Just like the NES died out in favor of the SNES, which died out in favor of the N64, which died out in favor of the GameCube, which died out in favor of the Wii.
Or how the GB died out in favor of the GBC, which died out in favor of the GBA, which died out in favor of the DS, which died out in favor of the 3DS.
And so on and so forth into the future; that's the way it is. If this didn't happen, we might not have systems later than the NES. By extension, we would never have rich games like Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, SMRPG:LotSS, any of the Paper Mario games, Super Mario Galaxy, any Mario Party, Luigi's Mansion, Super Smash Bros.... Just to name some of the Mario-related ones. And even if later consoles were released while keeping old ones alive, the weight of all those consoles at once would probably spell the death of Nintendo. And these days, they really, really don't need any unnecessary expenses...

That much is true. I get what you're saying; there'd be no amazingly awesome games and everything would be 8-bit and have almost no concept.

I have both, and in my opinion, Wii>Wii U. The Wii U just wasn't innovative. It didn't seem like much of an upgrade compared to the Wii. I still like the Wii U though, it just didn't really meet my expectations.

The only reason I'd enjoy a Wii U is because of a few of the games, but they might get boring after a bit since there's nothing like Super Paper Mario released for it yet. [It was released 7 years ago… I feel so old when I know I'm definitely not, but still. o.o] Based on storyline/ending, I think Super Paper Mario was the best video game I've ever played. It'll be hard, if not impossible, to top with another Mario game. I've beaten the game and I'm still obsessed with playing it. Now I'm going off topic with my obsessive rambling, so… Back to my point. *ahem* I'd enjoy a DS or 3DS because of reasons OTHER than slightly boring games, but there's not as much interest in a Wii U to me.

Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Toad Treasure Tracker, Super Smash Bros U, Super Mario 3D World, and MAYYYBE Mario Maker are all on my wishlist. Heh, the only one I'm NOT interested in is Mario Party 10.

(also off-topic but I'm more excited for Hyrule Warriors than the Mario games)

I hope I get some Mario stuffs for Christmas. Toad's Treasure Tracker, while kinda a rehash of SM3DW, still looks fun.
