Lotuskit opened her eyes. She saw her mother looking at her, with a sweet smile. “Lotuskit! You’ve opened your eyes,” her mother gasped. Lotuskit… That must be my name, Lotuskit thought. She saw another kit beside her open her eyes as well. The kit looked similar to her. Could this be my sister? Her mother saw the kit open her eyes and said, “Saltkit! You’ve opened your eyes, too!” So, her name is Saltkit…
Two other cats walked into the nursery. “Welcome to CloudClan,” they said, “we are your Clan’s leader, Mistystar, and deputy, Tornadostorm.” Lotuskit and Saltkit shyly said “hello” to the two cats.
“I bet these two will be the best warriors in the Clan,” their mother said proudly.
“I think so too, Roseblossom,” Tornadostorm replied.
Our mother’s name is Roseblossom! And Saltkit and I are gonna be warriors?
“Mama, I wanna tour the Clan! I wanna see the world!” Saltkit exclaimed.
“Alright, Saltkit,” Roseblossom said, “I can show you and your sister around the camp.” Roseblossom stood up, and beckoned the kits outside. The kits followed Roseblossom out of the nursery, and gasped when they saw the world around them. It was very beautiful. “Okay, here is the nursery,” Roseblossom pointed at the den they had just come out of, “this is where we will rest until you two get old enough to be apprentices.” Roseblossom then took them to the apprentices’ den. “This is where the apprentices sleep. Once you are six moons old, you will definitely be sleeping here.” Roseblossom moved on to the warriors’ den. “This here is the warriors’ den. Most of the Clan sleeps here.”
“I can’t wait to be a warrior!” Saltkit exclaimed.
Roseblossom chuckled. “I’m sure you will be a warrior very soon.” She then led them to the medicine cat’s den. “This is where the medicine cat sleeps and stores their medicinal herbs. However, we don’t have a medicine cat nor a medicine cat apprentice at the moment. They passed away long ago, and it’s been moons since we’ve had any medicine cats.”
Lotuskit felt drawn to the medicine cat’s den. It was as if she was made to belong in there. I wonder if I could be a medicine cat? I don’t really want to be a warrior, but since there are no medicine cats, maybe I could be the first one CloudClan has had in moons? Lotuskit thought that she could try to memorise all the medicinal herbs and their uses for the sake of being a medicine cat.
Roseblossom moved on. “Here is the leader’s den. Mistystar sleeps in here. As leader, she can make Clan announcements and things like that.” She walked to one last den. “Here is the elders’ den. All retired cats sleep here. The elders can no longer serve the Clan. A lot of them have some very interesting stories to tell.” Roseblossom then noticed how late it was getting. “We should head back to the nursery. You two need some rest.”
“Awwwwww,” Saltkit and Lotuskit said in unison. “We wanna stay outside longer!”
“I know, but it’s important for you two to get some rest! Come, I promise I’ll let you two go outside again tomorrow.” The kits followed Roseblossom back into the nursery. When Lotuskit reached their nest, she was thinking about everything she saw today. She really wanted to be a medicine cat someday, and she would gladly be one if she really had to. I’m sure I’ll be a medicine cat someday. I just have to be patient.

“Lotuskit! I bet you can’t catch me!” Saltkit yelled out loud. Lotuskit ran faster and faster, trying to pass Saltkit. Eventually, Lotuskit passed Saltkit and started to giggle. Saltkit then shouted, “Oh, I’m gonna beat you, just you wait! I can’t lose this race no matter what!” Saltkit tried to pass Lotuskit again, but failed. Lotuskit was running too quickly.
Suddenly, they stopped at the camp exit. Saltkit looked at Lotuskit and said, “Hey, I bet you aren’t brave enough to go outside of camp.”
“No, I’d go outside of camp without your dares. So, the real question here is,” Lotuskit replied, “are you brave enough to go outside of camp?” Lotuskit then walked through the exit, proving to Saltkit that she was indeed brave enough to exit the camp.
“Oh, don’t be a show-off,” Saltkit said, as she too exited the camp. The kits chased each other in the forest, when suddenly, they came across a field of medicinal herbs. “Whoa! Look at all the catmint,” Saltkit said in awe.
Lotuskit padded up to the catmint patch, and began to gather it. “Perhaps this will be of use next time someone gets greencough,” she stated.
“Good ol’ Lotuskit and her herbs!” Saltkit exclaimed. “Seriously, Lotuskit, you should totally be a medicine cat!”
“Yes, that is what I’d like to be. I feel like I’d enjoy caring for all the sick and injured cats.”
“Maybe we should convince Mistystar!”
“I don’t believe that’d be necessary, I’m very certain that mother noticed already and told her.”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
“Shouldn’t we be going back to camp? I feel like someone has noticed our disappearance.”
“But I wanna stay outside longer!”
“So do I, but I don’t want to get into trouble or anything.”
“Okay, fine. But first, let’s finish gathering all the herbs!” Saltkit hurriedly began to help gather more herbs. “I can carry the marigold, tansy, lavender, and comfrey. You can carry the dock, horsetail, catmint, goldenrod, and thyme.”
The two kits picked up the herbs they had gathered, and quickly ran back to the CloudClan camp. However, when they got there, they had to face an angry Roseblossom standing at the entrance. “Why did you leave without permission? Why didn’t you ask me or another older cat to escort you?” Roseblossom asked them, with a very disappointed look on her face.
“Well,” Saltkit began, “we simply got carried away while playing. We didn’t notice until after a little while.”
Roseblossom noticed that the kits brought back some herbs. “Well, I guess considering you two came back safely, with herbs, I can’t really be as mad. I’m happy that no dangerous predators harmed you, and that there are more herbs to go around, especially since we don’t have a medicine cat at the moment to do the gathering themselves.”
Tornadostorm then padded up to Roseblossom and her kits and said, “Pardon my interruption, but I’m curious about where you two found the herbs. Would you like to show me? It’d be very swell, since now our warriors can gather herbs from one reliable place, rather than go search for them.”
Saltkit and Lotuskit yawned in unison. “I’m tired,” Saltkit said in a very tired voice.
“Me too,” Lotuskit also sounded very tired.
Tornadostorm and Roseblossom chuckled. “Alright,” Roseblossom told the kits, “I think now would be a good time to rest. Perhaps tomorrow the two of you can show us where you got the herbs?”
The kits nodded tiredly, and then plopped onto the ground, asleep. Tornadostorm told Willowpaw and Whitefeather to bring the herbs to the medicine den, while she carried Saltkit to the nursery, and Roseblossom carried Lotuskit.
Lotuskit then began dreaming of catching mice with Saltkit, and making Roseblossom proud of her and her sister.

Ooh, nice job!! Sounds like the start to a good story!
