WolfClan Book 1: Rise of SnakeClan

"I-I love you." purred Lionpaw

Leopardpaw stiffened for a moment. "Lionpaw," she mewed matter-of-factly, "we're apprentices. You shouldn't take a mate before you're a warrior. It isn't wise. Plus, you just got over Cheetahpaw." SHe paused. "Then again...I love you too," she purred.

"We're not mates yet." purred Lionpaw. "When we're warriors we will be."

Cheetahpaw looked up gratefully at Meadowdawn with her left eye. "… Thank you… for helping me…" she whispered hoarsely.

Sharppaw gasped as he found out. That little snakeheart tore her eye out! I'll kill him for this!

Cheetahpaw coughed. If I die now, I might as well say this, she thought. Squeezing her left eye shut, she decided to say something. "… Sharppaw… I… I love you…"

"I love you too, Cheetahpaw." Sharppaw said.

Cheetahpaw smiled. At least I'll die happy.

I hope she lives. Sharppaw thought. But at least if she does die, she can die knowing that there was someone in her life that appreciated her and stuck with her.

Lionpaw glared at him from across camp

Lionpaw… I never loved him. I was willing to at least be his friend, but now he's blown it! He's destroyed me! Cheetahpaw wanted to sink her claws into the earth, but couldn't find the energy.

Leopardpaw purred. "Of course."


Meadowdawn nodded. "You don't have to thank me, Cheetahpaw...this is my duty. If I came back to camp just to see you in the center, everycat mourning you...I don't think I could live with myself," she whispered. She looked up to Sharppaw. "What in StarClan happened?!" she snapped.

Lionpaw smiled. "I can't wait."

Leopardpaw stood up. "Neither can I."

Lionpaw licked her ear.

"Snowleaf!" yowled Shadowstar.

Leopardpaw smiled, and brushed up against Lionpaw's pelt. "Hold on," she mewed. She headed into the medicine den. "How is she?"
Meadowdawn frowned. "I'm not sure if she will make it..."

Snowleaf, her pelt bristling, raced over to Shadowstar.

Lionpaw waited for her to return.

"I missed you." purred Shadowstar, nuzzling his mate.

Snowleaf purred. "I missed you too..." Then, she looked up at him. "You realize that this means that you can't be mates with Meadowdawn, right?" She turned, and glanced at the medicine cat, who was pacing back and forth with Sharppaw and Leopardpaw.

"I know." he purred.

"At least this isn't against the warrior code," she purred. Just as she was about to announce to the Clan about them being mates, Meadowdawn exploded from the medicine den and hissed weakly, "The kits are coming, Shadowstar!"

"Quick, Snowleaf follow us to my den." said Shadowstar, wrapping his tail around Meadowdawn's to lead her there

Meadowdawn stumbled along, and she told Leopardpaw and Sharppaw, "I'll be right back. Shadowstar has to discuss something with me."
Snowleaf growled. She didn't want to raise Meadowdawn's kits, she wanted to raise her own.

"Okay." said Shadowstar, putting Meadowdawn in his nest

Eventually, there were four beautiful kits; one was a gray she-kit, one was a gray tom, another was a black tom, and another was a white tom.

Shadowstar purred. "They're beautiful."
