"AAAHH!! AAAAAAAAAHH!" Unsure what to do, Meowth just sort of yelled a lot. James and Jessie ran over when they heard the commotion. "Oh no! What do we do??" James whimpered.

Link was visibly distressed. He ran up and away and anxiously sliced grass and shrubbery with his blade. Nothing emerged. No fairies, no hearts, not even Rupees.

A jolt of shock ran through Haku's core when Riverstar suddenly began screeching, then leaped down. As if temporarily forgetting about the rest of the group, she remained with the cat the entire time, focused entirely on her. "W-what's wrong?!" she asked frantically, crouching down beside her in the sand. "I-it'll be o-...!!" All of a sudden, she saw her friend collapse where she stood, causing her to gasp harshly. "... R-Riverstar..." Slowly, and with misty eyes, she reached a hand toward the cat, lightly placing it on her shoulder.

Hearing the commotion, Robin gasped, instantly dashing to the scene. "What is it? What's going on?!" he asked worriedly. Seeing Riverstar lying there, he got the worst feeling. It felt as if time had frozen.

Bullet whipped around when he heard the commotion. He ran forward and crouched by Riverstar

Suddenly riverstar started jolting and shaking. But not in a normal fashion. as if she were... a hologram, or something. She gasped one last time, the ground beginning to show through her skin. and a soft voice emanated from her lips "I'm.. Sorry." It was almost too faint to hear. then her claws (which were unsheathed) sheathed, and she opened her mouth, in what appeared to be a scream, and faded away to nothing... As if she hadn't been there.

Bullet gasped "RIVERSTAR? HELLO? RIVERSTAR?!"

Flint whimpered at his side, and cowered closer to his father.

Team Rocket stared on in horror. They had no words.

Link slowly walked back when he realized what had happened. He looked around for Riverstar's body. The lack of one unsettled him further. He looked down sadly.

Haku quickly pulled her hand away when Riverstar began to twitch and fade away. Her eyes widened, and soon became filled with tears. "R-Riverstar..." Though her voice was initially soft and shaky, she let out a harsh scream and broke down crying when she was completely gone. "RIVERSTAR!" All too suddenly, another one of her dearest companions had been taken from her, and worst of all, she hadn't a clue why.

A somber expression fell over Robin's face as he hung his head and placed a hand on Haku's shoulder. "I'm... so sorry," he spoke softly. "You two seemed so close..."

Cookie came running at this moment, having heard the sudden panic. "W-what's wrong?!" she asked in a nervous whimper.

Bullet, following Robin's example and putting one arm on Haku's back, and the other one around his son, who was now crying, replied "It's Riverstar..." He continued softly ".. She's gone." Flint cried noticeably louder for a moment, and buried his face in his father's chest fur. Bullet stroked him, gently.

Cookie's eyes widened in horror. "... Gone...??" With the grim reality setting into her mind, she, too, began to weep, unsteadily backing closer toward Pit.

All Haku could do was glance up momentarily at those who came to comfort her at this dark time before continuing to stare at the spot where Riverstar laid in her final moments, with tears flowing forth freely.

Flint pulled himself up out of the safety of Bullet's embrace, and moved towards Haku "It'll be ok." He said softly. "It'll all be ok. We can do this, we can win... I know it." He felt himself fighting back the now stronger urge to cry. "I'm.. I'm really sorry." He looked down. Riverstar's movements and yowls burned into his mind. It left a horrified look on his face.

Nagisa, who had remained pretty much completely quiet for some time, gasped at the sound of Riverstar's pained cries, her golden-brown eyes widening fearfully at the sight of the silver-furred cat's condition. Quickly, she took a few, cautious steps toward her ally, feeling her eyes begin to water slightly.
By the time Nagisa had arrived at her side, however, her friend and ally was suddenly beginning to fade away, causing her to freeze in place and simply stare ahead in horror.

Lucina quickly turned around upon hearing the panicked cries of her allies, and she soon realized what had happened. "Riverstar..." she murmured softly, lowering her head.

Pit stared toward the scene fearfully for a few moments before letting his eyes fall closed, shocked and saddened by the tragedy that had just taken place.

Bullet slowly stood, a deep and, almost fatigued expression on his face. He lowered a hand to Haku, and with a glance at the ever darkening sky, slowly being covered by clouds, said "We need to keep moving... I'm... I'm so sorry Haku."

Flint looked up, thoroughly flustered by the sudden rush to leave. "Uh wait... uh..." He looked around wildly for a reason to stay here Bullet stretched his other hand towards his son. His right hand still left as an offer to Haku to help her up. But his left was held as a motion to settle Flint. "Flint, I don't know what's going to happens when those clouds cover the whole sky... Maybe..." He struggled to both find the words, and to have his heart allow him to speak them "Maybe... Riverstar... Won't be.. The last." He looked down as if in shame at his own assumption.

Flint gave him a hard look as he stood up. "How do you know? She hasn't been herself for a while... Uh, maybe something was wrong with her in particular?" Bullet shook his head, giving an apologetic look to Haku. "Now isn't the time." he then turned and slowly started walking off. His tail dragging in the sand, and his head hung low. His eyes, if one could see them pas his hair falling over them, were wide with horror at what he had just seen.

"... Y-you're right," Haku responded to Bullet in a low murmur as she took his hand and slowly rose to her feet. "I-it's alright... I'll be... fine..." With a sigh, and after wiping the last of her tears away, she seemed ready to keep moving. "... Thanks," she eventually finished as she began moving slowly.

Hearing Bullet's words, Robin uneasily looked towards the clouds again. Could the clouds and Riverstar's sudden passing really have some sort of connection? If this were the case, progressing as quickly as possible would be an absolute necessity to avoid more, similar tragedies.

Nagisa simply nodded her head in response to Bullet, lifting a slightly shaky arm and wiping a few remaining tears from her eyes with her sleeve.

"... Right," Lucina agreed as well after a brief silence, staring ahead as she spoke. "We're fighting against time, after all... We can't afford to stop, even if just for a moment."

Link remained close to Haku as they walked along. His hands hung at his sides, and his gaze lined the ground as he trudged on. Every so often he would look up and around at his companions, and sometimes at the sky, then his gaze would fall again.

Team Rocket were eerily silent. James held Meowth, who clutched his shoulder with his claws, his eyes wide in confused, suspended horror. James' face was dead serious, as was Jessie's. She looked straight ahead at all times, looking drained and empty.

Flint took the rear of the group, which was unusual for him. His tail dragged on the ground, and his head hung low. If he had had the hair of his father, one wouldn't be able to tell the horrified expression on his face.

Bullet's stride was stiff, his gaze locked ahead of him, sorrowful determination was all he showed.

Cookie walked near the back of the group, as well, by Flint's side. She, too, was stunned by the tragedy, but she still attempted to raise morale. "Hey, uh... I-I know we're all kinda numb right now after what just happened, but... We've gotta stay strong, right...?" she said quietly to Flint, trying to force a smile, but failing.

Flint failed to pull his gaze away from the ground ahead of him. "Um.. Yeah, sure..." "Can't we grieve for even a moment though?" His face grew hard.

(I don't feel this way, it's all Flint xD)

Seeing Flint's expression and hearing his tone, Cookie quickly turned her attention to the ground once more. "S-sorry," she murmured, making no further comments.

Robin, despite feeling just as devastated as the others, tried to remain as vigilant as possible. After taking a deep breath to center himself, he quickened his pace, reaching the front of the group. There, he watched the horizon to see what was to come. Strangely, it seemed that there was a small village ahead; he could just make out the shapes of some small houses. "We seem to be approaching a mountainside village," he announced to whoever was nearby and listening.

Bullet was shaken out of his trance by the presence of audible speech. He once again looked at the sky. This time to judge the time of day. "Pit..." He began slowly. "Should we go further? Further than the town ahead? Or is that a decent place to stop?" He glanced over his shoulder to check on his son, and his gaze melted into sympathy when he saw Flint and Cookie's expressions.

Flint both wanted to stop, and wanted to keep going. He wasn't sure which would make him feel better, so he just gave a low sigh, which helped a bit. He lifted his tail off the ground, and waved it slowly through the air to shake the dirt and dust off. It wasn't very effective.

Pit lifted his head to see the small village in the distance when he heard his allies mentioning it. "If we really need some rest, I don't think it would hurt to stay there for a minute or two..." he replied to Bullet, his tone sounding a little more serious than usual.

Bullet nodded. He slowed until he was next to Flint, and put his arm around him. This made Flints hard gaze go soft, and almost ashamed. Then he started to cry. Silently.

"I think we could use a rest," James whimpered with a finger in the air.

"Or just a wall to stare at," added Meowth in a demoralized monotone.

All of a sudden, a billowing flame burst out out the window of one of the houses. When the group got closer, it became even more apparent that something wasn't right in the village. Many of the structures were damaged in some way, and residents were running and hiding in fear. As it turned out, the village was under attack by a swarm of monsters.
Armed skeletons ran about, threatening villagers with swords and spears. Strange, blob-like creatures of various colors slithered everywhere in large numbers, emitting bizarre squeaking noises. There were even a few purple, tentacled, alien-like creatures with eyes on stalks using their strange powers to freeze the townsfolk in ice, and even turn a few into what looked like peculiar statues. The leader of the monsters, however, was a colossal cyclops, wielding a huge axe, the blade of which was easily as long as a pony.

Robin froze in place before the village. "Blast it! It's infested," he muttered, clenching his teeth. "Alright... We'll need to play this smart if we want to survive," he told his allies in a serious tone. "We can't rest yet..."

Bullet went and stood next to Robin, turning his side to the town in an instinctual attempt to make himself a smaller target. "Can we fight our way through? That big one looks pretty tough. Maybe we should try not to get noticed by him."

Flint, the thrill of the fight waking him out of his grief momentarily, looked at the crowd of evil infront of them. "We can take them!" He said cheerily "And I could defeat that big guy with my hand tied behind my back!" Bullet gave him a glare, that quickly shushed him, but his determination to fight was obvious.

"Hhheaaaauuuunnnghhhhhhhhh!" Team Rocket groaned and drooped. Link drew his sword with a ticked-off expression, while Meowth, Jessie, and James ran forward with the best offensive posture they could muster.
