Cats of the Mist-MistClan

Mysticstar was getting old, and she sometimes forgot things. Oops! Secretpaw's turn! she thought. "Hey, Secretpaw!" the little apprentice was still under the Clan Rock. "You helped us immensely during the poisonous potato disease, and you deserve to be medicine cat. I name you Secretleaf!"

Secretpaw looked up, happy. I get to be a medicine cat at last! she thought.

I can't believe it, we're Warriors! I'm Rainshine now, what a great name! Ooh, and Gatorjaw sounds so tough, I love it! Rainshine thought.

Gatorjaw looked at Rainshine happily.

Rainshine smiled at him. "This is so awesome!"

"I know!" Gatorjaw mewed.

"I hope I don't sound lame now since I just became a warrior, but right now I really wanna sleep," Rainshine admitted. "Really hard day, you know." She padded over to Mysticstar and Runningmoon, her former mentor, and said goodnight. "Can't wait for my first patrol as a warrior tomorrow," she yawned.

On her way to the warriors den, Rainshine went up to Gatorjaw. She was so nervous that she barely got the words out. "Er... Gatorjaw, would you like to share my nest with me? I mean... there aren't that many new ones ready in there anyways." She could feel her heart pounding. "And maybe we could talk a little too," she added in a softer voice.

"Okay," Gatorjaw mewed. "That sounds like a good idea."

"Great." Rainshine smiled as they headed for the den. Yay, he said yes! She walked inside the den, empty now since it was still fairly early. Rainshine found one of the new nests and settled into it. She gestured with her tail for Gatorjaw to come settle next to her, trying not to show that she was feeling a little awkward and nervous.

Sandshadow smiled at the newborn kits and cheered during the ceremony. When the ceremony was over, he laid down in the elders' den. This has been a very busy day. Soon, there'll be more kits in the Clan, considering...

Gatorjaw sat next to Rainshine.

Sandshadow was lying around, thinking of Gatorjaw and Rainshine. He was about to fall asleep when an unfamiliar voice startled him.
"Hello, Father."

"Rainshine, I was thinking..." Gatorjaw mewed shyly. "Maybe we can share a vole or something?"

Sandshadow nearly fell over. "Father?"
The cat looming over him was a golden she-cat with white markings and blue eyes. She nodded.

"Oh... yes, that sounds great." Rainshine blushed. "I'll go get one. Be right back." She dashed out of the den and went up to the fresh-kill pile. She picked the best-looking vole there was, and started back to the warriors den. I need to tell him, there won't be a better opportunity... But how do I start? Rainshine thought as she approached the den. "I'm back!" she purred. Rainshine padded over to Gatorjaw, placed the vole at his paws, and sat back down next to him.

"But... you don't understand... I never had kits... You must be mistaking me for someone else..." Sandshadow stammered. The golden cat shook her head. "No, Sandshadow. You are my father. I am Stormsand, your daughter." "But I would know if I had a daughter in MistClan!" Sandshadow retorted. "In MistClan, yes. But what if she was born a loner?" questioned Stormsand. Sandshadow didn't believe her. "Why do you have a warrior name?" Stormsand sighed. "It's a long story."

Gatorpaw smiled and took a bite of vole.

Rainshine smiled back and took a bite too. "Yum!" she smacked her lips.
"So... um, Gatorjaw... well, you're a really special cat, I'm glad we can spend time together..." Her heart raced as she barely got the words out.

"Yes...?" Gatorjaw purred.

Rainshine looked deep into his eyes, more confident now. This is it!  "And... I love you," she whispered.

Gatorjaw blushed. "Um....I..." he started. Come on, she's never going to rule with you if you keep being a wimp! "I love you too." he finally said.

Rainshine was overwhelmed with joy. "R-really? You do?! You've always seemed kinda too good for me, but I had always hoped," she purred.

She thinks I'm good!? I must have really let myself go. "Yeah, and you've always seemed kinda too good for me!" Considering I'm trying to be evil and destroy the Clan... "Well at least we're together now. Just us."

"You think so? Thank you. And yes, just us," Rainshine sighed. "I'm gonna appreciate every moment we have." She leaned against him and gently licked his pelt.

Gatorjaw purred. "I'll appreciate it too."
