Maple-Fire Alliance: The Three War Trial
*Front post incomplete will be edited overtime
You've probably heard Stealth and I talking about "MapleClan" and "FirePack" and you may also wonder why Stealth is a fox, not a cat. Well this may help explain a few things.
Characters:
Note that any characters on the list below may be ones you haven't seen, or may never see in the course of this story. So look at your own risk.
Also note that just like in the warriors series, there is only one cat or fox for every authoritative position. If there are more names in a position such as Leader or Gamma, then that means that there are several characters that will hold the position throughout the course of the story.

Re: Maple-Fire Alliance: The Three War Trial
~STORY CHAPTERS~
- Prolog:
- ”What do we do, what do we do? Do we help them..? Or… Would that be devastating?” The black tom paced back and forth across the Rock Path. A tall stone with a smooth path carved out of it made by thousands of paws walking along it. The tom’s golden eyes locked with a white cat with black spots trotting into the camp, a worried look on her face. “Stareye!” He called.
The younger she-cat looked up at him. “Yes, Moonfighter?” “Can I talk to you?” She nodded “of course.” And she made her way up the stone path to him. Without a word, he turned and lead her into his den, made of a small cave paw carved out of a ridge in the stone. He sat on his mossy nest and looked at her expectantly. She stopped in front of him. “Stareye, I’m sure your well aware of this pack of foxes we’ve found living in our territory, yes?” She nodded “and your most likely also aware of IceClan, our neighboring clan’s plan to attack them? Possibly to drive them out?” Once again the spotted she-cat nodded, though more hesitant this time.
“Good. Well, I believe it would be better if we had these foxes as our allies then our enemies. We have tried once to make the suggestion to them, and we were chased out.” Stareye nodded, looking down at her paws.
“And as my Iota, I’m going to ask you to gather a patrol, a fairly large patrol, to assist these foxes in their fight. If we fight alongside this pack, then we may gain their trust enough to become allies.” Stareye looked shocked “Are you sure, father? We could be rejected, and both IceClan and this pack could turn on us!” He smiled warmly at her. “Don’t worry. It’ll be ok. They’ll need the help.” Sighing, Stareye turned, and left Moonfighter’s den. She began to gather a patrol, full of several members of the clan. The patrol consisted of about 15 cats, including Moonfighter and Stareye.
Evening was approaching. Just about the entire clan watched the sky turn a dark red, turning the clouds into smoke, and the sun into a glowing orange orb above the tree tops. The light of this orb turned everything that touched the earth into a black shadow. Moonfighter watched the sun disappear behind the trees. “It’s time.” He whispered softly. He stood, stretched, and started walking out of the camp. He glanced over his shoulder to make sure those who had been called to fight were following him. They were.
Stareye trotted forward and caught up with Moonfighter. The two of them walked on in silence. They crossed a shallow hill, and beyond it was a small clearing, its eastern border marked by a short cliff edge with a jutting escarpment, and full of foxes and cats. Moonfighter only now began to hear the ruthless sounds of the deathly battle inside the clearing. Which Moonfighter realized was the pack’s camp. He had been here before, but never at night.
With a flick of his tail, he led his clan down around the clearing, to the cliff edge on the east side of the camp. He stood on one of the longest jutting rocks, and looked out below him. He sleek muscular tom had a soft scowl on his face as he examined the situation in the camp below. The pack of foxes was losing. IceClan had brought an extremely large patrol, and seemed to be showing no mercy on the canines. Moonfighter made a soft murrow. Stareye looked at him worriedly.
He lifted his head to the blackened sky, and yowled at the top of his lungs, a screeching piercing yowl, yet somehow full of energy and enthusiasm. At this yowl the members of MapleClan ran down the cliff side into the clearing, and began fighting the IceClan cats. A loud howl came from a deep voiced fox somewhere off to the left of the clearing “FIREPACK! STAND YOUR GROUND! FIGHT!” The pack of foxes, known as FirePack, started taking defensive measures against MapleClan.
Moonfighter watched from the edge of the jutting rock, his tail flicking distressed. The members of FirePack started fighting off the members of MapleClan who moved to defend them. “NO!” The Theta shouted. “DON’T DO IT!” with a soft growl, Moonfighter leapt down from the jutting rock, and knocked an IceClan warrior away from a surrounded FirePack fox vixen. “We aren’t trying to hurt you! We’re trying to save you!” Moonfighter snapped to the frightened fox, which just looked at him with wide eyes.
Moonfighter ran from fox to fox, saving those who needed it, spreading MapleClan’s good intentions throughout the pack.
Oceanstar of IceClan shouted “DON’T LET MAPLECLAN FOOL YOU! THEY DO NOT FIGHT FOR US! KILL THEM!” Moonfighter growled, and charged forward, trying to find her in the crowd. A fox’s yelp caught his attention before he could find the deceitful leader though, and he saw a young reynard being pinned by a strong IceClan warrior. Moonfighter ran towards the fight, grabbed the IceClan warrior’s scruff, and tossed him away. The burly grey tom skidded across the ground, and me Moonfighters eyes with a cold frosty gaze of crystal blue.
Moonfighter stepped between the injured fighter and the warrior. “Don’t. Don’t kill these foxes.” He said in a soft deep tone. The warrior smiled. “Oh? Don’t kill the foxes, you say? Then how about this?!” And he leapt forward, moving to get past Moonfighter, and to the FirePack fighter. Moonfighter gasped. He ran and knocked the fox away, taking the attack himself. The IceClan’s warrior’s teeth locked into Moonfighter’s neck. He felt immense pain, his vision flashing black. He twisted to kick the warrior, but he couldn’t move his legs quickly enough to kick the warrior. His neck was too badly damaged by the attack. And Moonfighter’s vision faded.
”MOONFIGHTER NOO!” Stareye screeched when she saw the limp figure of her father, and Theta seconds later. She rushed to his side. But it was too late, he was already dead.
Oceanstar yowled loudly “RETREAT! ICECLAN RETREAT!” Stareye wheeled around to a burly fluffy fox. “Browneye..” She whispered to the Alpha of FirePack as he approached. She lifted her head, straightening her neck, and tried to appear authoritative as she said in a monotone voice “I trust we’ve proven our loyalty to you, this night?” Browneye met her solemn gaze with one of his own. His dusty tan fur riddled with dirt and blood. “Yes, I believe you more than have. You have saved my pack, and I thank you.” A young male fox timidly approached Browneye before Stareye could speak. “Erm… They saved our pack, except… One… Littlenight died of a deep wound in his belly just now…” Browneye looked at his Gamma distressed. The Alpha looked down at his large paws, and sighed. “Littlenight will be missed.”
Stareye took a step forward, and both foxes looked up at her. “Um.. If this fight has proven anything… It’s that we need each other. Either one of us could have lost our entire clan, or pack tonight in this battle.” Browneye looked curiously at her. “So… I’m wondering if you wouldn’t accept an alliance from us… We’d help each other in whatever battles we face.” Browneye gave a quick nod “FirePack accepts.”
From that day on, FirePack and MapleClan have grown only closer to each other. Fighting off dangers, celebrating each other’s victories, and making close friends within each other’s groups. And it wasn’t long, before the pack and clan were inseparable, and became known as the Maple-Fire alliance.
But this was only the beginning of their trials
- Chapter 1:
I opened my eyes, the world was dark, and orange with sunset. I stood and looked around. Behind me she saw a huge and bright, and glorious sun burning in the sky. My sky blue eyes grew wide. It was too bright to look at, so I turned her gaze away. Where I looked, I saw a white she-cat with grey-blue markings approaching. It took me a second to realize the cat was transparent.
"I have something I must tell you." I recognized the cat as her clan's former deputy, Icestorm. She swished her tail. "Come." She turned and started heading towards a body of water bordering the orangy tan ground we were standing on. I hesitantly turned and followed her. She stopped at the edge of the water, letting the small gentle waves wash over her paws. Her paws left no mark in the sand or in the water as it waved through her paws.
I stared for a minute at her paws until her tail swished, calling my attention back. "Look." She said simply. Turning her shimmering gaze up to the sky. I followed, and ended up staring right at the blinding sun. Icestorm looked at it with no problem, I squinted my eyes against it's light. Suddenly a distant and faint 'boom' drew my attention to the horizon, where the water met the sky a glowing, sparking object was shooting upwards, towards the sun. Icestorm spoke, as I continued to watch "be warned. The Flare will rise-" I watched the glowing object rise towards the sun "-and will destroy the Sun" The object hit the sun. And there was a loud deafening boom as the sun exploded. My fur was ruffled, and I was blown back a step by the concussive force. I squeezed my eyes tight against the blinding light.
"- the River will rise-" The water around our paws started quickly rising. I barely had time to recover before it started rising above my head. I desperately tried to swim upwards. It was slow going, but I slowly swam to the surface, Icestorm floating after me. I broke the surface with a loud gasp. Suddenly the world was enveloped in darkness. There was a faint light, I couldn't tell the source, but it was just light enough for me to see the water, and my paws in front of me.
I watched as a Water Moccasin made it's way through the water "-when the Snake takes the Crooked path.... Night will fall, and lives will be lost" I watched the snake's path as it zig-zagged awkwardly across the surface of the water. The last of the light faded.
Bannastar awoke with a jolt. The leader's den around her was light, she realized in a heart-beat, as she tried to steady her breath. Forcing herself to her paws, glancing at their black coloration against her otherwise cream-colored fur. She made her way out of the den with a swish of her black-tipped tail.
She was happy to see the silver she-cat Riverheart, her deputy, sitting on the Rock-Path, calling orders and patrols in her usual chipper energetic manor. Bananastar let out a murrow of greeting, and Riverheart turned her gaze to her leader "Oh! Bananastar! You're awake! Heh, you slept in. I was gonna wake you, but you looked to peaceful!" The young she-cat let out a fond purr and tilted her head, closing her crystal-blue eyes at the memory.
Bananastar snorted and gently shook her head with a smirk "heh, I'm sorry. My dream was anything but peaceful." Even with that less then happy comment, Riverheart's contagious enthusiasm was already lifting Bananastar's mood. She turned her blue eyes to the similarly coloured sky, and murmured distantly "do you think you're ready to become leader?" Riverheart froze mid sentence, (She had returned to assigning patrols) and looked with a horrified expression at her friend
"Bananastar... What makes you say that?" Her tone was still soft with shock. Bananastar felt slight regret at her deputy's tone, and looked at her paws, thinking over how to respond. "I have my reasons." Was all she could muster. "But I want to know what you truly think." She glanced at Riverheart to judge her reaction. The sleek she-cat now had a similar downcast demeanour to match Bananastar's words. She glanced at Bananastar out of the corner of her eye. "Well... Honestly how am I to know? I mean.. I'm pretty used to assigning patrols and stuff... But I only have my own thoughts. How those thoughts translate to being a good leader isn't really something I can judge."
Bananastar smirked, and looked back to the clearing below, seeing a small group of confused cats not yet with patrols assigned. "I'm sure God will prepare you when the time is right." Bananastar concluded after a moment. Riverheart gave her a cheesy smile, and went back to assigning patrols. Bananastar walked past her, and trotted down the Rock-Path, she went to grab some prey from the Fresh-Kill pile, when suddenly a white tom with black stripes (Zebrapaw) came dashing into the camp "BANANASTAR! BANANASTAR!" The cream-coloured she-cat looked over her shoulder at him "It's FlarePack! They're planning an attack!"
- Chapter 2:
"What?! What happened?!" Bananastar wheeled around, and members of MapleClan started gathering around the startled apprentice, pestering him with questions of their own. Bananastar waved her tail for silence, then Zebrapaw spoke. "I overheard FlarePack's alpha... Uhm..Uhm"
"Skyflower." Riverheart reminded with a smile. "RIGHT! Skyflower. Well Skyflower was talking with her beta... And... And they were talking about... About how they don't trust us... And were planning an attack... They want at the sap our trees create... The maple trees." "Why wouldn't they just ask?" Bananastar went on, curiously.
"Their Delta... Goldstone, convinced Skyflower otherwise..." Zebrapaw shuddered "She was really good! She woulda had me convinced if I didn't live here." Riverheart purred. Bananastar let out a sigh. "Well I'm just glad you DO live here, Zebrapaw. I'll talk to Cornstarch, you're off training for today." Zebrapaw tilted his head. "Why?" "You've already had your adventure. Get something to eat. I have planning to do."
Zebrapaw obediently wormed his way through the crowd of cats, who were now all jabbering to each other anxiously. Bananastar heard this clamour, and realized quickly she needed to deal with it. She leapt onto the Rock-Path, and let out a yowl, signifying she needed FirePack. Then turned to her clan "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Rock-Path for a clan meeting."
Her clan gathered beneath her, and she felt Riverheart's pelt brush hers as the silver Russian Blue leapt up onto the Rock-Path next to her leader. Once everyone was settled, Bananastar took a deep breath and began. Not waiting for FirePack. "I'm sure you all just heard what Zebrapaw had to say. FlarePack is planning an attack." Bananastar fought recollections of her dream, and a spike of anxiety as she continued "we will be ready when they arrive." She turned to her deputy, not noticing a few foxes slipping into the camp and gathering among the cats.
"Riverheart, please lead one small patrol to watch the border, and scent for any traces of FlarePack in our territory." Riverheart nodded, but didn't move to lead her cats out until the meeting was done. Bananastar turned back to her clan, and only now noticed the foxes, and the faint trace of FirePack drifting on the air. She gave a quick nod of greeting. "Kindlefoot, Hollybranch, you both will be on guard throughout the day, keeping an eye, ear, and nose out for FlarePack." Both black littermates nodded. "Greywhisker and Rosepool will relieve you at dusk." The grey, shaggy tom, and the slender sorrel she-cat nodded, and glanced at each other.
"Coalfoot, you can guard the nursery with Stoneleap, and Pineheart." The three cats looked at each other, then moved off to the nursery. "The rest of you, be on guard. And if you have to leave the camp, leave in pairs. Apprentices not counting." She glanced at Zebrapaw, Nightpaw, and Badgerpaw, who all looked at each other indignantly.
"RIGHT! We will not let this gang of foxes beat us! Meeting dismissed." She heard approving whoops and yowls from her clan as she leapt down. The slender vixen made her way through the crowd towards Bananastar, who dipped her head in respectful greeting at the sight of this fox "Ash, hello." Ash nodded back. "Who is attacking, Bananastar? Whoever it is, you know you can count on FirePack to help." Bananastar forced her worries down for a moment, and smiled. "Thank you. And FlarePack. Zebrapaw told me their planning an attack out of mistrust." "Mistrust..." Ash echoed, an unreadable expression on her face, which soon soured. "Okay then. FirePack will be ready."
Bananastar smiled fondly at the alpha. Ash lead her pack well, and had taught Bananastar much.
Throughout the day, MapleClan prepared for the attack, bracing their walls, and having small training sessions in their camp, as there had not been war for MapleClan in a while.
