Realizing what she was doing, Gumi's speed gradually dropped until she was once again matching Luka's, walking by her side once more. "Oh, right... Ehhm... Sorry," she murmured awkwardly. "Walking's good, too."

"Yes... Thank you," Luka replied, chuckling a little as Gumi returned to her side. "We're just about there, anyway... Even walking the rest of the way won't take long," she added thoughtfully with a glance at the grocery store ahead.

(Since they seem to be practically stuck on a treadmill facing the store, I'll help them out with a timeskip. xDD)

A few moments later, Gumi skipped past the grocery store's sliding doors. "Alright! We're out of the chilliness!" she cheered, her arms in the air.

Luka stepped into the grocery store alongside Gumi, feeling quite relieved to have a break from the chilly weather outside. "Yes; now all we have to do is find that maple syrup..." she responded, smiling a little at her young friend's enthusiasm.

Yukari had just stopped by the store to get some bread, which she had recently run out of. Maybe she'd get something else along the way as a treat, but her main goal was just to get bread. And milk.

Gumi quickly picked up one of the shopping baskets by the entrance. "Better get one of these in case we see something else we need, right?" she commented, attempting to plan ahead, just to be safe. After all, there was always that possibility. For example, they could find some sort of previously-unseen flavor of ice cream, which, of course, Kaito would most likely have to try.

Yukari was quick to locate her bread, find the right kind, and take it with her. She couldn't stand white bread. That was the way she was about food—she either hated it or loved it immensely. Promptly, she began to walk over to the refrigerated part of the store to get some milk.

Luka nodded her head in reply to Gumi, agreeing with her idea to bring a shopping basket with them. "Hm... Good thinking, Gumi," she commented thoughtfully, briefly glancing around the store before beginning to walk ahead.

Gumi tagged along, right by Luka's side. It seemed that every item on every shelf caught her attention at least briefly, as her large, green eyes scanned everything. Every so often, she would spot something particularly-interesting and dart over to get a closer look, only to quickly return to following her friend. Just then, she spotted something particularly-special. Once again heading over for a look, she held the tiny box in her hand; banana Pocky. "I didn't even know this flavor existed...!" she gasped, mostly to herself, though it came out a bit louder than she had intended. Seeing this treat instantly brought someone to her mind; someone who she thought would be pleasantly surprised to receive it as a random gift. However, she was unsure of what to do. What if Luka criticized her for filling their basket with unnecessary treats? Before long, she had become lost in thought, simply standing by the shelf with the box in her hand.

"Hm?" Looking somewhat curious about what Gumi had found, Luka turned to see it for herself, quickly spotting the box of banana Pocky she held in her hand. "Ohh, is that... banana-flavored Pocky?" she inquired, her gaze scanning the tiny box as she spoke.

"Wuh?!" Gumi appeared slightly surprised, or even slightly startled, when Luka snapped her out of being lost in thought. "Oh, yup...!" she responded, with a single, quick nod. "Hey, uhm... Would it be okay if we kinda... bought it...?" she asked quietly, shrinking down a little. "N-not for me, but... uhm... as a surprise for... someone...?" As she continued, she grew very shy, very quickly.

Seeing Gumi shrink down a little and begin to grow very shy as she spoke, Luka's expression softened, and perhaps even began to look slightly concerned for a moment. "A surprise gift...?" she echoed in response, her eyes closing briefly as she paused. "That's very thoughtful..." she continued with a smile, once again looking at her friend. "And it's just a small box, so it definitely wouldn't take up much space..." she noted, subtly motioning to the shopping basket as if to tell Gumi she approved of the idea.

Gumi's eyes widened and lit up brightly when Luka approved of her idea. "Yay! Thanks, Luka...!!" she responded excitedly, carefully placing the tiny box in their shopping basket. "I really hope he likes it... ... Ah...!" Realizing what she just said aloud, a pinkish hue quickly spread across her cheeks, and she looked away, very embarrassed.

"Mmh...?" Luka appeared slightly puzzled at first when she saw Gumi look away in embarrassment, though glancing briefly at the tiny box now sitting in the shopping basket, a look of understanding soon came to her face. "Ahh... I'm sure he will," she responded in a reassuring tone, intending to keep her response short as not to make her young friend feel even shyer.

The only response that Gumi could manage was a high-pitched, bashful giggle. Part of her really wished that she hadn't opened her mouth at all after placing the item in the basket. If she hadn't, she wouldn't be clutched by embarrassment like she was now. However, she also couldn't help feeling like she was reacting far more than she had to in response to something so simple. Why was she feeling so awkward in the first place? It was just a tiny gift for a dear friend... By now, all she wanted was to begin moving again so that they could get on with their errand.

Luka, noticing that Gumi now seemed very embarrassed, decided that it was likely a good idea to change the subject at this point. They had yet to find what they had come here for, after all, and she didn't want the others back at the apartment starting to worry if they were taking so long with such a simple task. "Now..." she began, softly clearing her throat a little before she continued to speak. "We should likely start looking for the maple syrup, don't you think...?"

"Oh, uhm, yeah...!" Gumi finally spoke up, gathering herself after being so flustered. "Sorry; I got us super-sidetracked there, didn't I...?" she noted with an awkward giggle, followed by a sigh. "It won't happen again; I promise. Go ahead and lead the way; I'll follow right beside you...!"

"Alright..." Luka nodded her head, a slight, soft giggle escaping from her throat. "It shouldn't take us very long to find it," she noted just before beginning to walk ahead. "... I'm fairly certain I remember where it is, after all..." she added just a moment later, half-murmuring these words to herself as she scanned the area.

Gumi, as she said she would, tagged right along by Luka's side as she went. Much like her older friend, her eyes, too, scanned the area for any sign of maple syrup. Aside from the awkward part just a moment ago, she was having a good time on this errand, even if it was nothing at all special. She was just the sort of sunny, easygoing person who could find joy in such ordinary situations.

As the duo's search for a bottle of maple syrup continued, Luka slowed her pace a little when they passed by the part of the store that sold refrigerated goods. Though the item they were currently looking for likely wouldn't be here, she assumed, she still felt as though they could find something else they needed while in the area.

Miku walked up and down the candy aisle, carefully considering which sweets to buy. She felt around her back to make sure her twintails weren't peeking out of her jacket, then resumed looking at candy.

Gumi peeked at the refrigerated shelves and bins as her and Luka slowed down next to them. "Eh? Is this where the syrup is, Luka?" she asked as she eagerly examined the various products. "Wait... They don't usually have it in these fridge things, do they?"
