SnowClan: Clan of the Mountains

They're nothing but a couple of mouse-brains. Hiddenkit grumbled mentally while taking a bite out of the vole.

Pebblekit threw some feathers in the air.

Hiddenkit tore into the vole and pretended it was Pebblekit and Talonkit.

Pebblekit tore into the feathers, pretending it was Hiddenkit. She threw the feathers around.

Hiddenkit finished up the vole and padded away to a secluded corner.

"Let's do this, Talonkit!" Pebblekit mewed, throwing more feathers.

Hiddenkit buried his face in his paws. They're so mouse-brained...
Flickerblaze noticed Hiddenkit and ran up to him. "Hiddenkit..."
"Go away, Flickerblaze." he grumbled to the medicine cat.

"Okay, I'm ready!" Talonkit meowed, jumping up. "Do you want to hide some feathers first? After I find them I'll hide them for you, then afterward we can gather them all up and go crazy with a feather party!"

"Why...?" Flickerblaze asked. "I don't want to leave you. Someone has to comfort you."
"Great. And that someone isn't you." Hiddenkit flicked his tail.

"Okay!" Pebblekit squealed.

"But, Hiddenkit..." Flickerbalze pleaded.
"I don't need your comfort!" snarled Hiddenkit. "Now go away and leave me alone!"

"Alright, take these and hide them anywhere in the camp, just not in dens we're not allowed in!" Talonkit laughed, pushing a pile of about six feathers toward Pebblekit. Then he sat down in the middle of the clearing, ducking his head down into his paws so he couldn't see. "You can start!" Talonkit squeaked.

Flickerblaze sighed and padded toward Pebblekit and Talonkit. "Hello, there." she purred. "What are you two kits up to today?" she asked with a tinge of amusement in her voice, staring at the kits with a gleam in her eyes.

"We're playing with feathers!" Pebblekit squealed. "And one of them was brought to us by a mysterious force in the sky! Isn't that cool?"

Flickerblaze laughed. "Mysterious force? Do you mean StarClan, Pebblekit?" She purred with amusement at the kits' little game. She'd always had a soft spot for kits.

"Oh, so THAT'S what it's called." Pebblekit giggled. So it DOES exist. In your face, Hiddenkit!

Talonkit looked up. "So it's for real? Ha, I knew it!" He mewed, his eyes shining.

"Well, StarClan isn't exactly a 'mysterious force'." added Flickerblaze. "It's more of our guardians, our ancestors watching over us from the stars. They give medicine cats like me and leaders special omens and prophecies. Some cats, like Hiddenkit, don't believe." She felt like crying at that, and her voice cracked. "But... they don't make feathers fall out of the sky. Birds do that."

"Cool!" Pebblekit mewed. Well then, we thank the birds for the feather.

Flickerblaze nodded, unable to say anything, and turned away to hide the tears welling up in her eyes from the kits. It made her eyes water even more to see Hiddenkit, so she closed her eyes.
Drip.
One tear fell to the ground. "I have to go!" Flickerblaze wailed and she ran to the medicine den.

Talonkit blinked, then stared confusedly at where Flickerblaze had just been. "What was that about? I hope she's okay." he mewed, concerned. Talonkit wasn't sure if he should go talk to her to see what's wrong, or if that would just disturb Flickerblaze and upset her more.

"She'll probably be okay." Pebblekit assured him. "Now let's play Feather!"

Flickerblaze cried. Hiddenkit won't ever be healed! He'll never know the love of a mother, even though it's right there for him.

"No peeking, Talonkit!" Pebblekit ran off, looking for a place to hide feathers.
Snowstar, who was watching her and Talonkit, padded up to her. "Wanna hide one of the feathers in my den?" she whispered.
"Okay." Pebblekit raced off to the leader's den.

Hiddenkit looked up and saw the other kits hiding feathers. Ugh. I'm so sick of them and their stupid little mouse-brained games.
