Universal Crossroads - Super-Powered Crossover RP

OK, so I just have a vague idea here so far. Hopefully, the concept will come together more and become more refined as the RP gets going (like CC did).

For now, I'll just list the basic idea. Details about this may change over time-

-Strange bugs occasionally enter other worlds/universes, originating from a world that connects all others (the Universal Crossroads). When these bugs bite characters, they gain superpowers, which vary widely from individual to individual.

-Every world has hidden gateways to and from the Universal Crossroads, but they normally only open for those who have been bitten. Shortly after a character is bitten, they'll have a strange, strong urge to go to some specific location, and probably feel very restless until they do so. This urge is actually leading them to the location of a hidden gateway, and serves to reveal its location to them. Once they've passed through the gateway once, the feeling goes away.

-The Universal Crossroads acts as a hub for those who have been bitten, allowing them to visit other worlds if they wish. Even if they don't choose to travel to other worlds, however, this place still has some handy things to offer. (The exact things will be RPed out)

-One of the things that can be freely obtained is a device called the "Inventory", which is automatically given to any character visiting the Universal Crossroads for the first time. The Inventory, worn on the wrist, can beam objects into an extremely convenient storage, so that they may be accessed at any time. All the user has to do is think about putting an object away, and it'll be sent to the storage. Similarly, just thinking about accessing a particular item will cause it to appear.


And now some tips, to help the RP go smoothly-

-Using some sort of tag system in your posts will probably be essential to avoid confusion. You can go about this however you wish, but the most simple way would be to just list the character's name and current location (at least the world) right before the "meat" of the post. If RPing multiple characters, be sure to give each character's section its own tag.

-It may be a good idea to discuss joining the RP together with at least one other person, and planning how your characters will meet and the like. This way, your character will be guaranteed to have someone to interact with.

-Super-powered characters don't have to be good; super-villains are welcomed as well.

-Super-powered characters can choose to form teams with others, or they may choose to work alone.

-Of course, try to balance out your characters' powers so that they're fair.

-Non-bitten characters can be RPed, too, but only if they'll be able to consistently interact with others in the RP (for example, being important to a plot).

Appearance: V is based on my Pokemon Go trainer so I'll import a screenshot soon, but to get more specific since we can't change that much about our trainers she has golden brown hair tied in a ponytail, green eyes, and a tall and lanky build. I'll probably try to draw her soon since I don't imagine her face or body to totally match my trainer
Brief summary of personality: V is team valor all the way, and she values her ambition over other others and sometimes over herself. She's brave and reckless and cares a lot about her Pokemon, especially her venusaur Penny who she's rarely seen without. She also likes traveling and adventure and can't stay in one place too long.
Existing abilities: communicating with Pokemon
New Powers- fire powers and invisibility, can't be used at the same time. Probably will let other people know about her fire abilities since she can use them as a weapon but will keep her invisibility a secret
Other: I might change or add to this after I see what other people are doing so she fits well into the RP!

Gender: Female
Appearance: Signature look / Alternate look (from Splatoon 2's story)
(As for height, it's never been officially given, but I'd estimate it being roughly 5'3" or 5'4", going by comparison with characters whose heights are known)
Brief summary of personality: Laid-back, quiet, and shy around strangers. She's rather lazy, and can be a bit sarcastic and negative, but she also has a caring side, especially towards those she's close to.
Existing abilities: Aside from singing and dancing (she is a pop idol, after all), Marie's most recognized strength is her incredibly sharp aim. Her preferred fighting style is long-ranged sniping. Being an Inkling, she also has a squid form, and can shift between it and her humanoid form at will. Other standard Inkling abilities include producing ink to use in combat and color-changing.
New Powers-
-Clearsight: Super-powered vision, manifesting as both the ability to see over very long distances and the ability to partially see through solid objects.
-Timebinding: Marie can temporarily slow the movements of others, or her surroundings, while she continues to move freely.
-Phasing: The ability to pass through most solid objects. While using this power, Marie becomes partially transparent. Anything she's holding, such as a weapon, is able to phase through obstacles with her.
Other: Inklings have a tendency to dissolve when they fall into water, so water may be her biggest weakness. She's one half of the Squid Sisters, who are most likely the most famous and successful musical group in Inkling history.
As for timeline details, I'll be RPing her after the events of Splatoon 2's Octo Canyon story mode. That would also put her age at about 19.

Brief summary of personality: Loud, energetic, and a bit short-tempered. She tends to be cocky and impish, and loves to act tough and show off, but she also has a childish streak. Apparently, she has a lot of trouble sitting still.
Existing abilities: Pearl is a famous rapper, so, of course, rhymes tend to come to her easily. Other than that, her agility is something that she's proud of, and her favorite fighting style is very in-your-face. Of course, as she's an Inkling, she also possesses the species' standard abilities.
New Powers-
-Flight: Just as it sounds: the classic superpower of flight.
-Shrinking: Pearl can shrink down and become tiny, which comes in handy for fitting through tight spaces, as well as being a smaller target.
-Shockwave Shout: Pearl has the ability to unleash a deafening shout that produces highly damaging shock waves. Generally, for this to happen, the shout has to be directed at a target that Pearl is currently viewing as an enemy.
Other: Again, like Marie, water is probably her biggest weakness. Also like Marie, she's half of a musical duo, too: Off the Hook. Despite the way she acts, she's actually 21 years old.

Name: Callie
Universe/Origin: Splatoon series
Species: Inkling
Gender: Female
Appearance: Usual look / Alternate look (from Splatoon 2's story, alongside Marie and Agent 4)
(She appears to be the same height as her cousin, Maire (who we've estimated to be roughly 5'3" or 5'4"))
Brief summary of personality: Very enthusiastic, friendly, optimistic, and excitable. She has a tendency to enjoy many thrilling activities, but possesses a prominent fear of heights. Loves to eat, and seems to have a big sweet tooth in particular.
Existing abilities: Possesses standard Inkling abilities, and is also a skilled singer/dancer.
New Powers-
Blazing Speed- Allows for running at overwhelming speeds for an extended period of time, though it will still wear Callie out after a while.
Super-strength- As it sounds, grants Callie incredible strength. It comes in bursts, showing itself whenever she becomes excited.
Other: Like the other Inklings, water is likely her biggest weakness. The other half of the Squid Sisters. Like Marie, she is currently 19 years old.

Name: Marina
Universe/Origin: Splatoon series
Species: Octoling
Gender: Female
Appearance: Usual look / "DJ_Hyperfresh" ("DJ E-DA" in the Japanese version)
(Additionally, she has been confirmed to be 5'10" tall)
Brief summary of personality: Occasionally somewhat timid, but also excitable, Marina generally has a rather sweet and easygoing disposition. She can be a little absentminded from time to time, and also has a bit of a sassy side.
Existing abilities: As an Octoling, Marina seems to share all the same abilities of an Inkling. She also possesses a strong singing voice, and can play various instruments (she serves as the DJ for Off the Hook, and has been known to play keyboard/keytar, as well).
New Powers-
Invisibility- Allows for complete invisibility, just as the name suggests.
Growth- Marina can grow to a much larger size, roughly somewhere between 20 or 30 feet tall.
Ultra-resistance- Can allow Marina to sustain heavy amounts of damage in battle before wearing out, and make her very difficult to budge. Also grants a steady, moderate amount of enhanced strength.
Other: As Octolings are so similar to Inklings, it's probably safe to assume that her biggest weakness is water, as well. She's the other half of Off the Hook, and is 18 years old.

Marie was in a particularly good mood at the moment. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, she and Callie were on tour again, bringing joy to people around the world through song. Normally, just thinking about the hustle and bustle that came with touring would leave Marie feeling drained, she was almost looking forward to it this time. After all that had happened, she was thoroughly glad that everything was back to the way it should be, facing every adventure together with her dear cousin.
Marie stood on the balcony of her and Callie's luxury hotel suite, leaning on the railing and gazing out at the ocean view with a perfectly contented expression. She had to enjoy this moment of peace while it lasted, since such opportunities were bound to be few and far between on the road.

All of a sudden, Callie scampered out onto the balcony when she spotted Marie standing there. "Heya!" she greeted, a warm grin spreading across her face. "Enjoying the view?" As she asked this, she slowly leaned forwards, her gaze drifting ahead towards the sea, as well. "Ahh... It really is beautiful..."

"Hey!" Marie returned Callie's greeting with a little grin of her own. "Yup. Gotta take it in while we can... Pretty soon, we'll be staring out at a sea of PEOPLE instead," she remarked with a bit of an awkward chuckle. "Nothin' but people as faaar as the eye can see..."

Meanwhile, a strange bug was circling in the air above them...

"Hah, that's sooo right," Callie nodded in agreement, suddenly pulling out her cellphone and leaning slightly over the railing of the balcony. "We totally have to savor times like these!" she added, snapping a photo of the breathtaking scene ahead of them.

After a moment of silently staring out at the sea, Marie turned her head to look at Callie again. "So, how're you holdin' up, being back in the spotlight? It's not too much of a shock after... all that stuff, is it?" she questioned, genuine concern showing in her eyes.

While Marie was distracted, the strange insect landed lightly on her arm.

Once she had gotten enough pictures for her liking, Callie put her phone away and turned to look at Marie. "I'm doing pretty good!" she assured her cousin. "It's almost a little overwhelming, but... it just feels really great to be back, too," she continued, smiling thoughtfully as she briefly returned her gaze to the ocean view.
Having looked away at just the right moment, Callie completely missed the strange insect as it landed on Marie's arm.

Marie was just about to respond, when suddenly, she felt a slight pinch on her arm; the bug that just landed there had just bitten her. "Ow!" She quickly turned her head to look, but somehow, the culprit had already managed to buzz away. She did, however, see the tiniest spot on her arm. "Ugh, nice... I think something just bit me," she groaned, pulling her arm in closer and taking a look at it.

As for where the bug had gone, it was now hovering above Callie, waiting for just the right moment.

"Oww, really?" Callie, with a concerned expression, leaned over slightly to get a look at Marie's arm. "... Does it hurt?" Her gaze focused on her cousin as she spoke, she once again didn't notice the bug hovering over their heads.

"Not really," Marie responded with a little shake of her head. "I just hope it doesn't puff up or anything... That would look real good on the jumbo screen," she grumbled sarcastically.

Right on cue, while Callie was distracted, the bug landed on her shoulder, then bit her, as well. Then, once its work was done, it swiftly fled the scene.

Before Callie had a chance to respond, she felt the small pinch of something biting her shoulder, causing her to twitch slightly in surprise. "Ouch!" Quickly, she glanced over, but didn't see any trace of the culprit. "Eugh... I think it just got me, too!"

"Seriously??" A somewhat weary-looking expression came to Marie's face. "Well, there goes that peaceful moment... Guess it's our destiny to be swarmed literally wherever we go now." When she turned her head to look out at the sea one more time, her eyes appeared to be straining for some strange reason. Suddenly, her weary expression intensified. "Nghhh... I'm... feelin' a little woozy now, all of a sudden," she commented softly, looking a bit dizzy, and bringing a hand to her head as she closed her eyes. "My eyes... They're kinda... not focusing right or somethin'..."

"Really...??" Callie looked over at Marie with slightly widened eyes, her concerned expression returning. "We should probably get back inside, then; c'mon..." She then offered a hand for her cousin to grab onto if she needed it, briefly glancing over the balcony with a bit of an anxious look. "Maybe you just... need some rest??"

"Yeah, I really hope that's all," Marie agreed, opening one eye as she took Callie's hand. "I'm just gonna take a li'l' nap... Hopefully that fixes it. If not... I don't wanna think about it. We can't afford this right now; not with a concert comin' up..."

"Yeah... ... You probably shouldn't worry too much about it for now, though," Callie responded with a small shake of her head, carefully beginning to lead Marie inside. "Just focus on taking care of yourself for a bit, and you should be feeling good as new!" she continued, giving a smile in hopes of being at least a little reassuring.

Thankfully, Marie ended up feeling much better after a little rest, and was able to perform without any significant trouble that night. However, she still wasn't feeling completely like herself. She couldn't understand why, but for the past few hours, a strange, uneasy feeling was brewing in her mind. For some reason, she couldn't stop thinking about Inkopolis; as hard as she tried to change her mind, it always drifted back. It had gotten so bad, in fact, that she was now feeling a strong, inexplicable urge to return there. Of course, this couldn't have come at a worse time, as she and Callie were currently in the middle of a world tour.
Back at the Squid Sisters' hotel suite, Marie slowly strolled inside, looking exhausted. Between putting on such a gigantic show that night, and dealing with her strange unease for hours, she couldn't wait to turn in for the night. However, at the same time, she had a feeling that, as long as her mind was racing like this, she would end up getting very little sleep. As soon as she was inside, she headed straight for the couch and sat with a flop.

Callie walked back inside with Marie, appearing somewhat more worn-out than she normally did after after a show. It turns out, shortly after Marie's sudden spell of dizziness earlier that day, she had ended up feeling rather off, herself; thankfully, though, resting for a short while seemed to work for her, as well. However, she, too, had begun to have the same uneasy feeling as her cousin several hours ago, and she was finding it increasingly difficult to think of anything other than Inkopolis. A distracted expression on her face, she wandered over to the couch and took a seat next to Marie. "So... That went pretty well, I'd say...!" she suddenly spoke up, hoping a conversation might help to change her mind.

"Yeah..." Marie sounded as if she wasn't even really listening as she stared into space. "... ... Um... Callie? ... You don't think we could maybe... put this tour on hold for a bit, do you?" she suddenly asked, sounding rather tense.

"Put it... on hold??" Callie echoed, sounding quite surprised by Marie's sudden question. However, it also somehow filled her with a sort of relieved feeling. "Well... Yeah, I bet we could..." Unaware that her cousin was experiencing the same, uneasy feeling as herself, she tilted her head with a curious look. "How come...?"

For a moment, Marie said nothing as she tried to come up with some way to describe what was troubling her. "Weeelllllllll... I dunno. It's just... I just... I have this funny feeling... I can't stop thinking about Inkopolis," she told Callie, leaning back and idly staring at the ceiling. "I keep feeling like we need to go back for some reason... It's totally driving me insane, 'cause I have no idea why."

Callie's eyes began to widen as she listened to Marie's explanation. "Ohmigosh... Really?? I-... I've actually been getting a feeling like that, too! Pretty much all day, I haven't been able to get Inkopolis outta my head...!" she exclaimed, extremely surprised to find that she wasn't alone in feeling this way.
