"Oof..." Marina watched as Pearl pressed the ice cube against her arm, briefly squinting her eyes with a sympathetic expression. "Hang in there, Pearlie; it'll be worth it!" she encouraged her friend, a subtle, awkward giggle in her voice.

"Ahh... Yeah, I think it's taking the itch away," Pearl sighed, looking very glad that the scratching could finally stop. "Even if it is cold, this is WAAAYYYY better than what it was before. I was literally losing my mind," she commented, rolling her eyes in an extremely over-the-top fashion, then grinning and laughing.

"Yeah... That looked pretty rough; the cold's a small price to pay for relief," Marina agreed, beginning to giggle along with Pearl when she started laughing. "I'm glad it actually worked," she added, relieved to see her finally being able to ignore the bite. Then, with a contented sigh, she leaned forwards slightly, resting her forearms on the table in front of her.

Randomly, Pearl turned her head to look out the enormous window facing the square, curious to see if anyone had waited there to greet them that day. Sure enough, she saw a few Inklings and jellyfish there, some of them waving, and others with their faces practically pressed against the glass. She tilted her head, wearing a smirking grin, then waved to them and struck a little pose. "Yo, check it out, Marina! How long do you think those guys were waiting to see us?" she laughed.

"Huh?" Marina perked up slightly and turned to look out the window, seeing the small crowd of Inklings and jellyfish for herself. "Aww, heh, I dunno...!" she responded with a chuckle, instantly waving to them with a wide, gentle grin.

While one Inkling in the small crowd--who was wearing an expensive-looking pair of headphones--was distracted, another one crept up behind her, looking like he was up to no good. Suddenly, the suspicious-looking Inkling boy grabbed the Inkling girl's headphones, pulled them off of her head, and turned to run.
Seeing this bold move, Pearl's eyes grew extremely wide, and her jaw dropped in complete shock. She never could have expected such a thing to occur in broad daylight, right in the middle of the square. Without hesitation, she sprung to her feet--dropping her ice cube in the process--stood as tall as she could, and glared out the window with a furious expression. Then, even though he could probably hardly hear it, she opened her mouth to shout at the thief.
"HEY!! WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING, PUNK?!"
However, just then, something even more shocking than the theft of the young Inkling's headphones occurred. When Pearl let out this ear-splitting shout, it produced what appeared to be a great shock wave, directed in the direction she was facing. The force of this shock wave was so great, in fact, that the ground shook, and the window--which, being the only thing between Off the Hook and the square, was made of very heavy-duty glass--disintegrated.
Those who were directly in front of the window stumbled back in a panic, most of their faces growing rather pale. Several others who were near to it--including the thief--froze in place, staring in awe as the great window was reduced to a pile of debris on the ground. The entire square was shocked by what had happened, and a numb, fearful feeling filled the air.
Pearl took a single, unsteady step backwards, with a stunned expression frozen on her face. She had no idea what just happened, nor how to react to it.

Before Marina had much of a chance to react to the situation with the thief, she was rendered frozen by the sudden, complete shattering of their studio's heavy-duty window. "WHAA!!" she cried out in shock, her eyes instantly bulging wide open. "P-Pearl...!! Wha-... Wh-what just HAPPENED?!" she stammered, her mouth agape as she stared at Pearl in disbelief. Then, her thoroughly-startled gaze slowly shifted back to the area where the window used to be, and, after several moments of stunned speechlessness, her body suddenly and completely unexpectedly faded out of visibility without her even noticing.

"... I... have NO... IDEA... It felt like an EXPLOSION!" Pearl responded slowly, staring straight ahead for a moment. "Geez, I hope nobody was hurt!" After saying this, she looked back to be sure that Marina was alright. However, she was nowhere to be seen. "Huh? Marina, where'd you go?!" she called, frantically rushing around the studio in search of her.

"Huh...? I'm still right here-..." All of a sudden, Marina trailed off when she noticed something extremely unusual; although her hands were currently resting on the surface of the table, she couldn't actually see them. "HUH...?!" Startled all over again, she jumped out of her seat, holding her hands up and waving them frantically in front of her face. Still not seeing anything, she grew even more alarmed and hastily ran up to the frame of the former window, staring at the crowd outside as she wondered if they would even notice her at all.

Some of the people in the square had noticed when Marina suddenly vanished, and were murmuring to one another, shocked. However, of course, they had no idea where she was at this moment. Even a jellyfish who was standing directly in front of her, less than two feet away, had no idea that she was there.
Being unable to find Marina, Pearl became increasingly alarmed. "MARINAAAA?!" she called out, standing on her tiptoes, facing away from the back wall. "I can hear you, but where are you hiding? HOW are you hiding, even?!" Considering that there were very few places to hide in the tidy studio, especially for someone of Marina's stature, she was completely perplexed.

Marina stared on in complete disbelief when it seemed that, indeed, nobody had even noticed her approach in the slightest. "Something really weird's happening, Pearl...!!" she rather anxiously called back in response to Pearl, her gaze still focused on the plaza. As she glanced around with widened eyes, one Inkling in particular suddenly caught her attention before she could say anything else; the boy who had stolen the girl's headphones in plain sight. Wait a second! If they can't even see me... Maaaaybe I could just quietly slip over there...
Carefully, Marina stepped over the window frame and began tiptoeing towards the thief, her gaze locked onto the pair of headphones he carried with him. As she approached, she slowly reached her hands out, then attempted to grab onto them and quickly pull them away.

Suddenly, the thief--who was just standing in the square, stunned--felt a sharp tug on the headphones he was holding, and gasped in surprise. He tried to hang onto them, but it was no use; they came right out of his grasp. With a confused, slightly irritated expression, he then flailed his hands in the air, trying to grab them back.
"No duh!" Pearl shouted back in response, groaning. "But seriously! Where did you even GO?!"

After she successfully managed to pull the headphones away from the thief's grasp, Marina held them high above her head in an effort to protect them from being taken back. Then, she swiftly turned around and dashed away from him, briefly pausing right in front of the studio. "Hold on a sec; I'll be right back!" she assured Pearl, beginning to scan around for the original owner of the headphones. When she thought she spotted her, she carefully weaved around the other Inklings and jellyfish as she made her way over, still holding the stolen headphones above her in case the thief came looking for them.

"You're not answering my questionnnnn!!" Pearl exclaimed. The fact that she couldn't see Marina, but could definitely hear her nearby was driving her crazy. However, just then, she noticed the pair of floating headphones. That is, the pair of headphones that Marina was currently holding over her head. "... OH." When she finally clued in, she looked a bit stunned.

With no hope of reaching the headphones by now, the cowardly thief quickly gave up. Furthermore, when he realized that the one who had taken them back was seemingly an invisible Marina, he quickly fled the scene. As he knew that he was significantly shorter than she was, he wasn't even going to think about picking a fight with her, especially with her newfound ability. When he had first considered taking the headphones, he thought it would be easy. Now, it was definitely too much of a hassle.

Meanwhile, the girl whose headphones had been stolen happened to glance up and see them seemingly floating overhead. "My headphones...?!" she gasped softly, her eyes lighting up.

Gazing down at the young Inkling, Marina lowered her headphones and carefully placed them back on her head, giving her a little smile despite knowing that it would go unseen. Briefly, she considered saying something in response, but ultimately decided against it, not wanting to attract any extra attention just to be safe. Without a word, she turned around and made her way back to the studio, glancing over her shoulder at the girl once more before stepping back through the window frame. "OK; sorry about that, Pearlie... Everything's good now, though!" she told her, strolling back to her chair and taking a seat. At this moment, her invisibility began to wear off, causing her to gradually come back into view.

As the headphones slowly floated down onto her head once more, the Inkling girl, staring upwards, grinned widely in delight. Even once they were on her head, she continued to hold this expression for several moments.

When Marina gradually became visible again, the murmuring outside the studio swelled. More than a few people had definitely seen at least some of what she had just done. A crowd of curious onlookers flocked to the window frame, staring inside with astonished expressions.

Pearl stared in amazement as Marina slowly reappeared, then stared out at the crowd. "... Well, this is a scene," she remarked, bracing herself for the moment someone realized that, with the window destroyed, they could actually run right into the studio.

After becoming visible again, Marina simply sat in silence for a moment, thoroughly shocked and amazed by what had just happened. She was only brought away from her thoughts when she heard Pearl speak up, slowly turning her head to look at the window frame. "... Oh boy... Yeah," she agreed, biting her lip slightly in anticipation. "We'd better get ready..."

Suddenly, the same Inkling girl with the headphones came rushing to the front of the crowd, looking thrilled. She had been among those who noticed Marina when she reappeared, and realized it was, in fact, she who helped her out. "Hiiiiiiiii!!" she called to her, waving frantically. Then, in her grateful excitement, she took a quick, awkward step through the empty window frame, but briefly froze after this. Part of her wanted to run up to Marina and thank her for recovering her prized headphones, but another was extremely hesitant about just suddenly entering the studio.

Pearl instantly stared right at the excited-looking Inkling when she stepped into the studio. "HeeeEEEEYYY, HOLD IT!" she shouted, springing up and running over to block her way. "I don't want none of you guys thinkin' y'all can just run right in here, OK?!" she snapped, holding her arms stretched out to the sides.

The excited Inkling gasped when confronted by Pearl, now looking a bit frightened. "O-okay, s-sorry...!" she squeaked, backing away a little. She definitely didn't want to be a nuisance and end up getting in trouble.

Marina briefly gained a look of alarm when she saw someone stepping into the studio, though her expression soon softened when she realized who it was. A big, slightly bashful grin spreading across her face, she started to wave back to the young Inkling, but quickly froze when Pearl suddenly shouted and ran ahead. "Pearl, wait...!" she called, awkwardly jumping to her feet and following her to the former window. "She's the same one who almost lost her headphones...! Maybe we can make an exception? Just this once...?"

Pearl was perfectly still for a moment, then slowly turned her head to stare back at Marina over her shoulder when she heard her request. Her expression was one of surprise, and perhaps some irritation.

The Inkling with the headphones' jaw dropped when Marina came rushing in to stick up for her--again. "A-are you sure...?!" she asked in a half-whisper, staring in disbelief.

"Yeah, are you...?" Pearl chimed in, clearly unsure about this idea. After all, there was always the possibility that if they let one person in, even if it was a special case, others might think that they could be allowed in, too. "I don't wanna start a whole big meet-and-greetathon deal here..."

"Ummmmm..." Marina, looking rather conflicted, glanced back and forth between Pearl and the Inkling with the headphones. On one hand, she wasn't particularly prepared to deal with a swarm of fans suddenly rushing into their studio, but on the other, she really didn't want to have to just turn away this young, eager Inkling. "... Actually, how about I just come out there for a minute?" she suggested with an awkward grin, stepping over the empty window frame.

"Uhh...!" Pearl watched in suspense as Marina stepped outside, into the busy square, knowing she couldn't stop her at this point. All she could do was glare sharply at everybody else in the crowd, hoping they wouldn't suddenly swarm and pester her friend.

The Inkling with the headphones grinned from ear to ear when Marina decided to come outside to greet her instead. However, now that she was standing right in front of her, she was partially frozen, unsure of what exactly to do from this point onward. She was extremely grateful for her help, and, really, felt like thanking her with a big hug, but she had no idea how she would react to such a gesture from a complete stranger. Instead, she just stared up at the famous Octoling with a somewhat stunned expression. "... ... ... Uhm... ... C-can I kinda... ... Can I... g-give you a hug...??" she finally asked in an extremely nervous tone, but clearly bursting with gratitude.

Marina glanced down at the Inkling with the headphones, noticing how nervous she seemed and gaining a gentle, sympathetic expression. It then only took her a few brief moments of thought before giving a little nod and chuckling, seeing the enthusiasm this Inkling had despite her apparent nervousness. "Haha; sure... C'mere...!" she responded, carefully holding her arms out.

The entire time, Pearl kept a close eye on the crowd, wearing the most serious scowl she could manage as she stood her ground between them and the studio.

The Inkling girl's ear-to-ear grin quickly returned when Marina happily welcomed her offer. Without hesitation, she practically threw herself forward, arms outstretched, and gave her a big, enthusiastic squeeze. "Thank you so muuuch!" she instantly cried. "These headphones are special, y'know! They're REALLY good quality, and I saved up forever to get 'em, 'cause they cost a lot, and I was sooooo scared when that guy grabbed 'em off of my head, but then you got 'em back and just... Thank you! Thank yooooouuuuu!!" she babbled through tears, still tightly hugging.

Marina's eyes widened in slight surprise when the Inkling with the headphones practically threw herself forward, then she chuckled again and happily returned the hug, giving her a little pat on the back. "Awww, it's no problem...!" she replied, a warm smile crossing her face as she continued to listen to the Inkling's words. "I'd be scared if I almost lost something like that, too... They must be amazing!" she remarked, gaining a twinkle in her eye as she mentioned the high-quality pair of headphones. "... Heh; I didn't really get a good look at them, earlier..." Pausing for a moment, her smile became somewhat of an awkward, almost childlike grin. "D-... Do you think I could maybe... see them again?"
