The Inkling with the headphones took a step back, tilting her head slightly when Marina requested to see her headphones a second time, and laughing a bit when she saw the goofy smile on her face. However, a hunch about what she might want them for entered her mind, causing her eyes to light up. "Of course!" she responded cheerfully, taking the headphones off of her head and holding them out for Marina to take.
The pair of circumaural headphones was most certainly a high-quality model. They felt very sturdy, and a little heftier than average. However, the thin, but perfectly soft layer of padding on the inside of the headband, a well as the equally-comfortable earpads meant that they were far from being uncomfortable to wear. They were quite nice to look at, too, mostly covered with a matte black finish, but with a few touches of silver, particularly on the parts that connected the earcups to the headband.

Pearl glanced over and saw this scene. "Hey, you need a marker?" she asked Marina, thinking that she was intending on signing the young Inkling's pair of headphones.

"Thanks!" Marina, grinning at the young Inkling, carefully accepted the headphones, holding them in front of her face and beginning to examine them thoroughly from several angles. "Wow... These DO look amazing..." she remarked, her eyes once again twinkling with enthusiasm. "And I bet they SOUND amazing, too!" All of a sudden, she reached up and took off her own pair of headphones, then placed the pair that belonged to the Inkling on her head. Impressed by how comfortable they felt over her ears, she simply stood there for a moment, taking the feeling in.
Marina's attention was, however, quickly brought elsewhere when she heard Pearl speaking from behind her. "Wha? A marker...?" The thought of signing the Inkling's pair of headphones apparently hadn't even crossed her mind; she had simply been genuinely curious about the high-quality item, and wanted a to get closer look. "Why would I need one of those...?" she asked with a slight tilt of her head, seemingly quite confused by the sudden question. However, after several moments of thought, it suddenly occurred to her. "... OHH!"

"They do! You can hear EVERYTHING with them!" the Inkling girl responded enthusiastically as Marina took a look at her headphones, looking particularly delighted when she suddenly decided to actually try them on. She was, however, rather confused as she wondered when she was going to actually sign them.
Many people in the crowd looked confused, as well, when Marina simply examined the headphones, apparently with no intention of actually signing them at all. Some exchanged puzzled glances, and others murmured between each other, but all eyes were on the scene before them. Then, when Marina finally realized what everyone was expecting of her, laughter swelled from the crowd. The Inkling whose headphones were currently on the Octoling's head broke into laughter as well, apparently perfectly amused by it all. This was definitely going to end up being a cherished memory.
"What, you just took them so you could geek out over 'em?!" Pearl laughed loudly at Marina and her audio technology obsession. "The squidkid wants an AUTOGRAPH! Doy! So do you want a marker or not?!"

Marina's eyes widened slightly, and her expression grew quite embarrassed when the crowd burst into laughter over her moment of absent-mindedness. "O-OK, um... Yes, please...!" she hastily responded to Pearl, briefly glancing over her shoulder at her. Then, slowly taking the headphones off of her head, she returned her attention to the young Inkling in front of her. "H-heh... Sorry to keep you waiting like that..." she apologized, giving her an awkward little smile.

Pearl, still laughing, rushed inside to grab a marker for Marina to use. She knew they probably had at least one lying around, so she wasn't so worried about leaving her post, since she knew it would only take a moment.
"Heehee, it's OK!" the young Inkling responded, giggling. She was honestly quite amazed by Marina's genuineness; she didn't act at all like a stereotypical, stuck up celebrity.
Just a moment later, Pearl returned with a metallic silver paint marker, reaching up and tapping Marina on the shoulder with it to get her attention. "Here; this oughta look sharp!"

The awkwardness in Marina's smile lessened somewhat when she was reassured by the young Inkling, glad that she didn't seem even the slightest bit irritated. After a moment, she felt a small tap on her shoulder and heard Pearl behind her, causing her to turn around. "Ooh, thanks! That'll be perfect," she responded, holding out a hand to accept the marker. Then, after once again turning to the other Inkling, she swiftly scribbled her signature onto the right earcup of the pair of headphones. "Aaaand done! Here you go," Holding them back out for their owner to take, she gave another soft, friendly grin.

"Eeeeeee! Thanks so much; you're the greatest!" the young Inkling exclaimed, eagerly accepting her headphones back. With shining eyes, she admired the silver, metallic signature on the earcup, which actually complimented the headphones' design and color scheme beautifully. "I'm gonna keep these safe forever," she sighed, briefly hugging them close, then putting them back onto her head and looking up at Marina again. "It was so nice talking to you, Marina!" she told her, beaming. "I guess this is goodbye, though..." The Inkling, though a little sad that this meeting had to end already, waved cheerfully at both Marina and Pearl. "Bye, guys; I hope the window repair stuff goes well...!" She then turned around and scurried away.

"See ya!" Pearl called after the fan, striking a little pose. Then, she went right back to stubbornly standing guard in front of the window frame. "Alright, that's it! Nothing left to see here, y'all!" she called to the crowd, making shooing gestures with both hands.

"Heheh, it's no problem...!" Marina responded with a little chuckle, watching with a smile as the young Inkling excitedly admired her freshly-signed headphones. Then, as the time came for their meeting to end, she returned her wave with a quite enthusiastic one of her own. "Bye! And thanks...!" she called out in response.

Just then, some police officers arrived, having heard about the incident that destroyed the window earlier. As they were intending on investigating the scene for anything suspicious, they quickly ordered the crowd to leave.
Pearl breathed a sigh of relief when the police managed to deal with the horde by the window frame. If they hadn't come, ultimately, she would probably have not been able to keep them out of the studio. "Glad that's over," she remarked, crossing her arms as she glanced around at the police going about their work.

"Aside from what just happened, yeah..." Marina agreed with Pearl, also observing as the police arrived and swiftly got to work. "I was so sure we were about to get flooded," She paused for a moment, briefly gaining an almost frightened expression as she imagined an entire crowd of fans suddenly rushing right into their studio.

"Same," Pearl agreed, looking mildly weary.
While some of the police were busy taping off the scene, another--a lionfish--approached Pearl and Marina. "You two were right there in the studio when the apparent explosion occurred?" he questioned.
"Yep!" Pearl responded with a nod, standing tall and looking up at the officer. "I was literally RIGHT THERE in front of the window when it got wrecked!"

"That's right," Marina chimed in after Pearl. "And I was sitting just back there..." she explained, motioning towards the two chairs inside the studio. "It was so sudden, too! Pearl let out a big shout while she was by the window, and it just-... Well, it looked like it broke right then...!"

"Yeah, it was cray!" Pearl remarked, thinking back to the sudden, startling incident.
"Hm. Well, at least nobody seems to have been hurt, thankfully," the lionfish police officer commented, looking between the two, then briefly back towards the square. "In any case, we're now beginning an investigation of the scene, so I'm going to need you two to temporarily leave the premises while we work," he told them in a calmly serious tone.

Marina gave a small, understanding nod of her head. "OK; got it," she responded, taking a step away from the studio. However, she quickly paused for a moment, staring back inside once more with a concerned expression. "Just... Please make sure the equipment stays safe..." she requested, returning her attention to the police officer as she spoke.

The officer leaned over and stretched his thick neck out a little, looking into the studio for a moment to see the equipment Marina was referring to. After spotting the turntables and keyboards in the corner--among other various musical devices--he turned his attention back to her. "Of course; we'll be sure to keep a close eye on it," he assured her, knowing that the collection of professional music equipment was likely worth a very large sum of money.
"Yeah, I don't think you have to worry, Marina," Pearl commented with a bit of a laugh. "What kind of dummy would try and mess with your stuff when the cops are right here?"

"Great... Thanks," Marina replied to the officer with a small, grateful smile. Then, hearing Pearl, she turned her attention over to her. "You're probably right," she agreed, briefly glancing over at the police as they went about their work. "... But you never know... You saw what happened earlier with the headphones..." she pointed out, rather unsettled by the thought that such a scene had occurred in broad daylight, and in such a busy area.

"Well, uh, yeah..." Pearl briefly paused in awkward silence, remembering the thief from earlier. "... But still! You totally worry too much!" she insisted, giving Marina's arm a light, friendly jab with her fist. "Now let's get outta here. C'mon; let's go out the back!" Motioning for her friend to follow, she marched towards the building's back exit.

"Good idea! We can probably slip away totally unnoticed like that," Marina responded in agreement, quickly following after Pearl as she headed for the back exit. "Then we can just decide where to go next from there..." she continued, trailing off with a somewhat thoughtful look. For some reason, a small part of her felt like there was someplace specific they had to be right now, but she couldn't quite put her finger where exactly it was.

Now back in Inkopolis, Marie--who was currently holding a parasol to hide her identity in public--strolled down the sidewalk with a somewhat dissatisfied expression. For some reason, even after traveling all this way, something was still bothering her. Now, a different, much more unusual destination was on her mind. "... Octo Valley," she suddenly murmured, looking as if something had just occurred to her.

Callie--wearing pair of sunglasses and a beanie--walked down the sidewalk next to Marie, looking rather distracted by her thoughts. When she heard her cousin's sudden murmuring, she perked up slightly with interest and turned to look at her, strangely having begun to think of the same destination. "... You think we should actually be there right now??"

Marie had paused, looking deep in thought. "I dunno; it's really weird, but... yeah," she responded quietly, glancing over at Callie. She took a quick look around at their surroundings, then stared down a particular road. "I... think this street meets up with Inkopolis Plaza... ... Ah!"
Suddenly, Marie's eyes widened, a look of surprise upon her face. After staring long enough, amazingly, her view rapidly zoomed ahead as if she were looking through a pair of powerful binoculars. Eventually, the quiet plaza, which had once been the bustling center of Inkling culture, came into view. "Y-yep... There it is," she murmured, sounding a little stunned as she stared for a moment longer. "Uh, guess we should kinda... get going..." After blinking and giving her head a little shake, her vision returned to normal, causing her to sigh softly in relief. Then, she slowly began strolling towards the plaza, holding her parasol close to obscure her face.

"Huh?!" Callie was quite confused, as well as concerned, by Marie's sudden wide-eyed expression, causing her to tilt her head to one side as she watched her simply staring ahead for a moment. "Wha-... You can SEE it from here??" she questioned, instantly looking ahead for herself, but seeing no trace of Inkopolis Plaza from where they were standing. "Huh... Er... Yeah, I guess so..." she somewhat hastily agreed, scampering alongside Marie towards the plaza.

When she arrived in Inkopolis Plaza, Marie felt a wave of wistfulness come over her. "Everything feels almost... sleepy here, now," she remarked softly, allowing her eyes to drift slowly across their surroundings. Eventually, her gaze settled on a certain, enormous window in particular, proudly overlooking the plaza from its location next to a raised walkway. A teary smile coming to her face, she slowly strolled up the walkway to get a closer look.

Callie gazed upon the plaza as the two arrived, quickly becoming filled with a wistful feeling, as well. "You're right... It's almost hard to believe it's the same place," she responded, glancing at each of the various sights around them with a soft smile before her attention ultimately came to the same, large window. Instantly, she began making her way up the walkway alongside Marie, tears welling up in her eyes as they drew closer to the building that awaited them at the top.

When she reached the window, Marie leaned forward and placed the palm of her hand against it as she gazed into the dim, empty studio. It looked very different than it did when she and Callie broadcasted the news there. Their sign, as well as the rest of their cheerful, brightly-colored decor, was long gone. Instead of vivid patterns of blue, yellow, and magenta, the walls were a simple, clean, grayish color.
"... Those really were the days, huh...?" Marie commented gently--almost in a whisper--quietly breathing a nostalgic sigh. Wearing a deeply wistful grin, she chuckled softly. "This whole thing just felt so much... simpler back then, y'know...?"
