Suddenly there was a loud excited, hyper to the point of bursting voice, cackling, seeming like it was coming from all around the group. And there was a poof of black smoke from near Pearl.

A anthropomorphic fox appeared in the middle of the group. “Why, HEEEEELLLOOOOOO!!!”” the fox proudly boomed his voice, high pitched and excited through the group. “Marie, Callie, Ma-Marina!” He giggled putting a hand to his mouth, gross slimy black goop dripping from him, and sliding lazily down his tattered seemingly useless wings, and down his torso, as well as being flung from his wildly wagging tail. “It is SSSSOOO wonderful for you guys to finally be able to see me! W-watching You has been a p-pleasure!” He giggled again. “And PEEAAARRLLL” he kind of playfully spun towards her, and poked her forehead, leaving a drip of warm black goop behind, which faded after a while “youreallytrusttooeasily,youshouldbemorecareful,onedayitcouldbiteyouintherear.” He bit right infront of her nose, his large jaws, and eerie black fangs closing audibly. “Say hellOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-“ as he said hello, he quickly switched between tons of different forms, moving juuust too quickly to processed easily by those watching. “To Vanatrix!”

"E-EEEEK! MONSTER!!" Callie squealed at the sudden appearance of the dripping, fox-like creature, jumping back a fair distance and landing unsteadily on her feet. As she paused to catch her breath, briefly frozen in place, she kept her fearful gaze focused on him. "Wuh-...!! H-how long have you-...?!" Trailing off as Vanatrix continued to speak, she hastily scurried closer to Marie, watching with an overwhelmed expression as he began rapidly changing his form.

Marina gasped sharply, her jaw dropping, as she watched Vanatrix appear from a sudden cloud of smoke. "BWAAA!" she cried out, recoiling at the intimidating sight of the creature and the booming sound of his voice. Then, as he drew closer to Pearl, snapping his jaws right in front of her face, her eyes instantly grew much wider. "Hey, HEY! Don't you touch Pearlie...!!" she shouted defensively, rushing right to her friend's side and staring at Vanatrix with an intensely wary look, the tips of her tentacles swaying subtly back and forth. When, after this, he suddenly started shifting into many different forms at a rather blinding speed, all she could do was stare on in shock.

Mechanica grew increasingly unnerved when she didn't hear any response whatsoever. "... Ehmm... Y-you still there...?" she questioned slowly, sinking slightly deeper into her seat. Her grip on the mech's control sticks tightening somewhat as she took a soft, anxious breath, she briefly glanced back at the portal behind her with a thoughtful look. Then, with a nagging feeling of anticipation, she quickly returned her attention to the space ahead of her.

The sudden appearance of a very threatening-looking being made Pearl jump. Quickly, she realized that the "bug" that she had just seen was an impostor; this was its true identity. The fact that she had been deceived angered her, and she clenched her teeth as Vanatrix teased her, flinching when he snapped his jaws in front of her face. She did feel significantly reassured when Marina protectively came to her side, however. "Y-you...!" she snarled at Vanatrix, glaring up at him as she subtly moved closer to her taller friend for support, tightly holding her Dualies at the ready.

Marie winced as the piercing sound of Vanatrix's shout assaulted her ears, and stared in horror at his dreadful form. Although she was mostly frozen with shock at first when he suddenly revealed himself, she quickly held up her Charger in response to his unpredictable behavior. "W-what are you, and what do you want with us?" she asked him sharply, trying not to let her fear show, and preparing a shot of ink as she aimed directly at him.

Suddenly, Min Min jumped out of the portal behind Mechanica, landing in a ready, crouching position. She appeared perfectly prepared to fight if she had to, with a Ramram equipped on her right ARM, and a Dragon on her left. However, when she took a quick look around, she saw nothing... except for a big, yellow, and very familiar mech suit, with an equally-familiar head poking out from the top.
"Eh...? Mechanica?" Min Min called to her fellow fighter, wondering what she could be doing in such a place. Honestly, she hardly knew what she, herself, was even doing there. Why had she felt such a strong urge to come here, to a seemingly-empty world that she had never even seen before? As she thought about it, she wondered if Mechanica had somehow experienced the same thing, causing her to be drawn here, as well. No... That can't be. There's no way... right?

(By the way, the Ramram and Dragon are two of Min Min's default ARMS weapons.)

"YAH!" Mechanica, already feeling very on-edge, sat straight up with a jolt when she suddenly heard another voice coming from behind her, only somewhat noticing its familiarity in her moment of surprise. However, upon whirling around, the vague suspicion in the back of her mind was confirmed when she saw Min Min standing by the glowing portal.
"A-ah! Min Min...!!" Extremely relieved to be greeted by such a familiar face, Mechanica went thundering towards the other fighter, bringing herself to an abrupt stop next to her. "Phewww, am I glad to see you here...!" she continued gratefully, her head briefly flopping forwards with a somewhat eased sigh. ... Wait; only people who're bitten by one of those bugs can come here, right...? she recalled right then, quickly perking back up with curiosity as her gaze returned to Min Min.

Vanatrix laughed heartily, quickly pulling out a duplicate of Callie's gun (in color too), which appeared in Vanatrix's hands in a poof of smoke "hehehe! I GOTZ INK!" He got a very sudden, very sinister, eerie look on his already rather creepy face, as he aimed at Callie. His voice was suddenly quiet, almost as if Callie had offended him somehow. "y-you... heheheh... Kn-know... Who I am... I-I said it... Don't you... don't you... remember?" Vanatrix's glowing pupilless eyes focused on Callie, still aiming the charger at her. "As for what I waaannnnt heheh" "to have FUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNN" he took into the air just above them, and spun in circles. "WITH YOUUUU" He started wildly firing the charger, poofs of smoke surrounded the group, creating duplicate Vanatrixes who also started firing other squid weapons duplicated by the cephalopods before them. The ink they fired was characteristically black.

Marie felt a surge of dread when Vanatrix suddenly went on the attack, summoning an army of duplicates to assist him. Instead of simply trying to attack right away, however, she hastily turned and shot a stream of ink running right across the center of the battlefield. Now that they were officially in a combat situation, she knew that they needed to be able to move quickly, and swimming through ink on the ground was their best option for mobility. Once they had room to move about freely, then they could focus on offense.
During the short time she was focused on inking the ground, Marie felt the sting of a black ink blob hitting her upper arm. Clenching her teeth, she quickly activated her Timebinding. Now, anything--ink included--that came within roughly eight feet of where she was standing upon using it was suddenly greatly slowed. By slowing all action immediately around herself, she gave herself some time to reposition, as well as gather her thoughts. "Everyone, match my color!" she shouted to her allies as she leapt towards her lime-green ink, transforming into a squid and swimming to a safer position. In order to fight effectively together, all four of them needed to be using the same color of ink.

As soon as the situation became hectic, Pearl took to the air. "Gotcha!" she responded to Marie, her tentacles taking on a lime-green hue. Normally, she would have talked back when someone else simply ordered her to change to their ink color, but there was no time for such trivial things now. "IT'S GO TIME!" she shouted, getting her mind into a battle-ready state. Then, she circled the area, firing her Dualies downwards to help Marie in inking more ground. As she did so, she did her best to nimbly dodge any shots directed at her. This was extremely difficult, however, and she did end up being hit by a few droplets every now and then.

Min Min, now standing up straight, smiled slightly when Mechanica came rushing over to see her, clearly relieved. Upon hearing the latter speak, however, she was somewhat surprised, and it showed on her face a little. Normally, as she and Mechanica spoke a different language from one another, it was rather challenging for the two to communicate. Strangely, this time, she had no trouble understanding what had just been said at all. "U-uh... Heh. By the looks of this place, I can imagine," she responded with a bit of an awkward chuckle as she looked up at her, wondering if she would actually be understood. Has she been studying...? I know she's basically a genius, but... that was fast.

Callie whirled around to face Marie and gave a quick nod of her head, a determined expression coming to her face. "You got it!" Swiftly, she changed her ink color to match that of her cousin's. Then, without hesitation, she swung her Roller at the ground and rushed back and forth, helping to cover the ground in lime-green ink. Along the way, she felt a blob of black ink splash against her head, briefly squeezing her eyes shut and feeling driven to move at an even quicker pace.

Marina didn't hesitate to switch to Marie's ink color when the order was given, and while her allies worked to ink the ground below their feet, she sprayed several streams to assist them before taking on a more defensive role. Her eyes darting from one Vanatrix clone to the other, she popped open the canopy of her Brella, attempting to absorb a few shots of their own, pitch-black ink.

Listening as Min Min spoke in response to her, a rather delighted expression came to Mechanica's face when she noted that, with the help of the translating device, the two of them could now communicate with much more ease. "Mhm...! Things were starting to get kind of creepy right before you showed up," she explained, unable to suppress a small shudder at the thought of the eerie, echoing giggle.
"... Eheh, but anywayyy," Continuing with a bit of an awkward chuckle as she changed the subject for now, the sparkle of enthusiasm quickly returned to Mechanica's eyes. "I can't believe we can finally, ACTUALLY talk to each other...!" All of a sudden, right after she said this, she stretched out the ARMS of her mech suit, giving Min Min a small hug.

"Yeah, that's really-... UAH!" Min Min was cut off mid-sentence as she found herself being suddenly pulled into a hug by Mechanica's suit. As it was made of scrap metal, this wasn't exactly a comfortable feeling. Her face scrunched up as she was pressed against its rigid, metallic surface, bound by its mechanical ARMS. "OW! M-Mechanica...!!"

Mechanica winced when she heard Min Min's cry of discomfort, quickly pulling her suit's mechanical ARMS away and releasing her from the hug. "Gah! Sorry...!" she instantly apologized, her expression filling with embarrassment over her mistake. "Ehm... A-are you OK, Min Min??"

Vanatrix started laughing like a giddy school child, as ink when flying everywhere "YOU CAN HIDE BUT YOU CAN"T... HIDE!" Cried one of the clones. "YOU WILL BE HUNTED LIKE MIICE" Called another. The original snorted at the two "PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT BOYS, HIT 'EM!" And they all started actually putting thought into their aiming now, aiming for their opponents, while the original started firing at their ink safety zone, having noticed his ink cover theirs while his clones fired wildly.

(The clones aren't very defensively strong, hint hint.. Like, at all xD)

Suddenly, Pearl found it much more difficult to avoid the clones' onslaught. "AGH! Who just turned up the heat?!" she cried, frantically zipping around as she tried to avoid being hit. This had seemed almost easy before, but now, it was actually a sizable challenge. As the difficulty of evading the enemy fire had increased so dramatically, she was noticeably struggling.
In retaliation, Pearl fired her Dualies back, spraying a barrage of lime-green ink blobs in the direction of some clones. However, she was slowly becoming overwhelmed. If this kept up, it definitely wouldn't be long before she was splatted.

Marie gasped when the enemy's attack became much more intense. As her weapon was incapable of continuous fire, she was in a much worse position than Pearl, and quickly taking damage. Instead of using her Charger to strike back, she took out a Splat Bomb and tossed it towards some enemies. Then, she dove into one of the remaining puddles of lime ink and attempted to swim to a safer position. There was no time for her to activate her power on the way out this time, and since she was already surrounded by enemy fire, it would likely not have done much good anyway. While she swam, her path was occasionally cut off by falling blobs of black ink, forcing her to swerve and weave around them.

Pearl was hardly able to see through the murky ink flying across her face, as well as that which was already in her eyes. Frantically, she searched for somewhere to briefly take cover and gather her wits. Spotting Marina, she quickly decided that the best option was behind the cover of her friend's deployed Brella.
"YO, MARINA!" Pearl called to Marina, diving towards her. "Hang tight; I've gotta take a breather!" Right before reaching the ground, she became a squid, then splashed into the puddle of ink that Marina was currently shielding. Instantly, she was filled with relief as the friendly ink enveloped her, easing the sting of their enemies' on her skin.

When she was released from the hug, Min Min sighed softly in relief. "Phew... Yeah... I think so," she responded to Mechanica's question, taking a slow step backwards. "So, uhm, as I was saying," she continued, bringing the conversation back to where it had been before, "it's great that we can communicate so smoothly now!" Her eyes lit up with curiosity. "I'm just wondering... how'd you learn the language so quickly?" she asked, clearly amazed. "It's like you just became fluent overnight! I know you're a smart one, but no matter how smart you are, I'm pretty sure that's completely unheard of, so... how?!"

"Wha-...! Pearl!!" Marina winced, clenching her teeth together tightly, when she saw the dangerous position that Pearl was in as she made her way over. "Sure thing... I've got your back! D-don't worry...!" she responded, desperately hoping that she would be able to keep up her defense long enough to provide sufficient cover.
However, as she knew the canopy of her Brella would launch if she kept it open any longer, Marina was forced to take a small step back, very briefly entering octopus form and dipping into the lime green ink at her feet. Then, she popped back up just a moment later, gasping when she saw a blob of enemy ink fly past her and squeaking in surprise when another hit her directly in the shoulder. Fearing that this brief dip had put Pearl in danger behind her, she didn't waste another second before pointing her Brella slightly upwards--filled with an intense drive to keep her friend safe--and taking aim at the nearest Vanatrix clone. Eyes narrowing with focus, she fired off another stream of ink in its direction, which directly led into the reopening of her canopy shield.

Callie found herself becoming quickly covered in blobs of pitch-black ink as she attempted to push her Roller along, and a rather panicked feeling came over her as she realized that, if she didn't take cover immediately, she would likely end up getting splatted in no time at all.
Wiping some ink out of her eye, Callie frantically scanned the battlefield until she spotted a small, remaining lime green puddle off to the side, which she hastily began stumbling towards. As she neared the puddle, trying her hardest to dodge incoming enemy ink along the way, she gathered her remaining energy and dove towards it, becoming a squid.

"Mmh?" Mechanica, head tilting ever-so-slightly to one side as she listened to Min Min's surprised words, realized that she definitely must have arrived here only after the disembodied voice's explanation had already finished. "Heh, actually...! I know this'll sound completely ridiculous, but... I'm not speaking your language at all right now!" she started in response, her own gaze brightening as she prepared to explain what was really going on.

"Wait, what?" Min Min appeared completely confused, and perhaps a little skeptical. "Then what am I hearing right now? It sure sounds like you're speaking it to m-"
"Welcome!" the disembodied voice spoke again, completely cutting Min Min off mid-sentence.
"Wuh...?!" Surprised, Min Min took a quick look around to see who was speaking. However, she was puzzled to find that there was nobody else there. "W-who's there...?" she called out, preparing to fight if she had to. "Where are you hiding?!"
The disembodied voice simply proceeded to recite its usual explanation to an extremely confused and somewhat alarmed Min Min. As it went on, however, the latter's tension could be observed fading away and giving way to wonder.

Mechanica's head perked up slightly by reflex when the disembodied voice once again began to speak-- this time addressing Min Min-- and she couldn't help letting a small giggle slip out as she observed her response. As the voice clearly had the entire explanation under control, she simply waited for it to finish covering everything, momentarily glancing over at Min Min with a bit of a grin, her expression seeming to say: "pretty neat, huh?".

Three clones burst into puffs of greyish-black smoke as they were hit by Pearl and Marina's ink, letting out  high pitched, spine tingling, haunting wails of pain as they did, the sound faded fairly quickly, but it somehow seemed to silently echo among the various Vanatrix's who all began howling in middle second bursts one after the other. two of which were too preoccupied to notice Marie's splat bomb, and only had the time to squeal for a middle second before they too burst into smoke at the explosion, causing similar wails to cry out around the empty space from the fading greyish black fog. Vanatrix himself pulled up his feet just a middle second too late, hissing in pain as one of his feet became extra goopy, dripping messily all over. He then giggled softly, and mumbled mostly to himself "pain. he..hehe...Hehehe.."

He fired a couple more shots at the creatures below him, then threw his hands out to the sides. Three of the five destroyed clones were replaced, all mumbling their vengeance on their murderers. "BOOOOIIIZ" Vanatrix called commandingly to the clones. "YOUR HAVING FUN RIGHT?!" The cones all howled agreement "WELL KEEP GOIN' CAUSE THE FUN DON'T STOP HERE!" Vanatrix spinned in circles in the air while his clones continued firing, trying desperately to lick his injured foot, and failing.
