Callie - Female, 17 - Location: Inkopolis News Studio - Tagged: Marie, etc.
When she saw just how concerned the looks from each of the Inklings outside were, Callie felt her forced grin softening into much a more genuine smile. She was touched to see how sympathetic they were, and it managed to lift her spirits a little, despite her discomfort.
All of a sudden, Callie heard Marie returning at an almost alarmingly fast speed. "Oh; Marie...! Y-you're back...!" she exclaimed, a hint of surprise in her tone. When she saw the peppermint being offered to her, she felt a brief pang of uneasiness in her stomach. "O-oh, um... Thanks," she spoke with an anxious little grin, slowly accepting the mint. She truly was thankful for her cousin's care, but the thought of eating anything else didn't sound very appealing to her right now, and she simply stared down at it for a moment.

There was an awkward silence.
"... Um... Callie? ... You miiiight wanna put that in your mouth. Not just... admire it," Marie suggested, the stressed look on her face very gradually intensifying. They already hardly had any time to get ready as it was without having to deal with something like this.

"I knowwww..." Callie sighed, trying to bring herself to just eat the peppermint. Normally, it would have been long finished by now, but she was finding it rather difficult to even think about such a thing at the moment.
After a while of simply staring it down, however, Callie took a deep breath, deciding to finally go for it. Quickly, she tossed the peppermint into her mouth, sort of scrunching up her face in the process.

Marie winced when she saw Callie's expression as she ate the peppermint. "Sheesh... You must have REALLY overstuffed yourself," she remarked. "Uh, how's your stomach handling that one...?" she asked kind of nervously.

"Mmmh..." Callie murmured as she sucked on the peppermint in her mouth, thoroughly taking her time with it. "I think it's OK..." she started in response, sliding it to one side of her mouth so she could speak clearly. "... Kinda hurts, though," she added with a frown.

"Oh... Uh, okay..." With time running out more and more, Marie had no choice but to bring up what she had read. "... Well, um... Do you think you can still go on and make that announcement...?" she slowly asked, hoping that the stress over being reminded of this didn't cause Callie's stomach to do a backflip and land on its head. "Y'know, the fashion one... It's in literally a few minutes."

"The... announcement..." Callie echoed back slowly, her voice trailing off and her eyes gradually growing wider. "The announcement!" she repeated, sounding slightly panicked. "Oh snippy snaps! That's in a few MINUTES?!" Hastily, she sort of scrambled to her feet, immediately hunching over with a squeak and wrapping an arm around her middle upon doing so.

"Whoa! E-easy there, Callie...!" Marie instantly went to Callie's side. "Don't hurt yourself! If you do, we'll be in an even WORSE situation!" she told her cousin, also in a bit of a panic. "Just... Stay put, alright? I'm gonna go get changed. Then we'll figure out how to get your stomach to cooperate on live TV in front of all of Inkopolis...!" At this, she didn't run, but walked very quickly towards her dressing room to change back into her signature costume.

By now, gathered outside the window, there were even more concerned Inklings than before, all murmuring amongst each other.

"O-okay..." Callie stammered in response, making an effort not to move around too much. Hearing what Marie said just before heading off to her dressing room, her face grew rather pale as she thought more about what they had to do in just a moment. Clenching her eyes shut, she took a few deep breaths in a desperate, last-minute attempt to calm herself.

Before Long, Marie had returned, still adjusting her hat as she stepped into the studio. "Phew..." Just then, she noticed Callie, who looked somewhat ghastly at the moment. "Uh, you alright there, Callie...?" she asked, walking over to stand in her usual position in front of the camera. "You don't look so good..."

Hearing Marie's voice, Callie opened her eyes and looked in her direction, giving a small nod. "I-I'll be OK..." she responded somewhat quietly, saying this to reassure both her cousin and herself. Then, she slowly made her way over to her place by the camera, forcing a big grin in preparation for the moment when they would go on air.

After a few moments of preparation in the technical department, the time finally came for the cameras to start rolling.
In the very brief period of time while the program's introductory animation was on-screen, Marie glanced over and gave Callie a little nod and smile, attempting to reassure her even further. Then, when it was time to cut to them, she once again faced the camera, waiting for her cue to speak after Callie.

When she saw Marie glancing over at her, Callie felt a little reassured and returned a smile in thanks, then turned to face the camera once again.
"Hold on to your tentacles..." she began when they were officially on air, using the phrase she always opened with for Inkopolis News reports.

"... It's Inkopolis News time!" Marie joined in with her half of their opening phrase. So far, things seemed to be going smoothly. Then again, they had only just started; it was likely too early to relax. She patiently waited for Callie to speak again, introducing the new line of fashions. In truth, she didn't even know what they were; she had completely forgotten about it, so didn't end up doing any research. She kept a close eye on a small screen amongst the cameras, displaying the image that was appearing behind them on TV, waiting to see what showed up.

Much like Marie, Callie had forgotten to look into what exactly they were reporting on, so she also watched the small screen carefully.
The first image to show up on the screen depicted what appeared to be hats resembling large cupcakes. They apparently came in two colors, according to the image displayed- one inspired by a vanilla cupcake, and the other chocolate. In addition, each one had a big, plush cherry sewn on top.
Normally, Callie would most likely squeal with joy the moment she saw these hats, but in her current state, she ever-so-subtly winced at the sight of them. "Oh, wow...!" she started to speak, stubbornly maintaining her grin. "... C-cupcakes! As hats...!"

"Oh... Huh." Marie stared in disbelief at the ridiculous-looking headwear they were currently reporting on. "This is totally going to be a... thing?" she remarked, unsure of exactly how to react, with an awkward laugh. "... Until you eat them all, of course," she joked to Callie, hoping for everybody's sake that she could take this joke at the moment. After all, she had to carry on as usual, but...

Hearing Marie's joke, Callie began to imagine trying to eat a cupcake as large as the ones depicted on these hats, which, of course, wasn't the best sounding idea to her right now. With a forced giggle, she glanced off in a different direction for a moment, away from the screen. "Ahah! Well, you know me and sweets...! Haahhh..." she responded, her laughter beginning to sound slightly nervous.
Just then, another image appeared on the screen, replacing the last one. Unfortunately, the items now depicted on it also had a food motif- specifically, they looked like t-shirts with a variety of pizza-inspired patterns.
It took a few seconds for Callie to realize that the screen had switched, as she had been looking away, and she sort of blushed with embarrassment when it did occur to her. "H-hey, look at that...!" she piped up, trying to go on as if nothing had happened despite being visibly flustered. "Pizza..! Y-you've gotta love this one, right, Marie?"

"All right; that's more like it!" Marie remarked, giving one of her signature, soft, lopsided little smiles. "Just... no pineapple on my t-shirt, thanks," she continued jokingly. Despite the overwhelming awkwardness of the situation, she was doing a pretty good job of doing what she always did. She did wonder, however, how long Callie could last if this kept up.

Meanwhile, in the plaza, many Inklings who stood watching the giant screen above the studio appeared a little confused, even uneasy. They could clearly tell that something was going on with Callie; she just didn't seem like herself.

Mint - Female, 15 - Location: Inkopolis Plaza - Tagged: (none)
Mint, who was among the Inklings in the plaza, gazed up at the giant screen with a puzzled and concerned expression. Though she had just very recently arrived in Inkopolis, she had enough knowledge about the Squid Sisters to notice that something seemed a little off.

After Marie had made a comment about the pizza-patterned shirts, the screen displayed one more picture. This time, it showed a variety of colorful bracelets with dangling charms depicting different foods.

Seeing this third food-related picture in a row, Callie couldn't help groaning slightly as she briefly put a hand to her middle. "Oohhhhh... Those are nice..." she commented simply after a moment, finding it rather difficult to feign wellness at this point.

Noticing Callie's discomfort beginning to obviously show through, Marie decided to try covering it up in a way with a well-placed remark. "Wait a sec; seeing this savory smorgasbord of style isn't giving you a stomachache, is it, Callie?" she asked, making a slightly-surprised face, hoping her plan wouldn't end up backfiring catastrophically.

"Eugh..." Callie trailed off, taking a moment to gather herself and find more words. "N-nah... This stuff is so fresh... It could never do that," she continued eventually, giving a slight, dismissive shake of her head. "I just-... I need to sit down," she added a little more quietly, in a slightly defeated tone. Though she knew the show couldn't just stop at this moment if they weren't ready to wrap up, she desperately waited for the part where they were to finally finish. In addition to feeling completely embarrassed over this entire situation, she couldn't help thinking of the concerned Inklings she saw earlier, and wondered how much more worried they might be now.

Ouch... That didn't go as smoothly as I hoped, Marie thought to herself, biting her lip. "... Anyway," she began again, intending on wrapping things up for poor Callie's sake, looking at the camera, "all this is available in stores this weekend! Don't miss out!" The light at the end of the tunnel was in sight; she waited for her cue to finish things the usual way.

Realizing just how close they were to making it through, Callie felt a hint of motivation returning to her. "Until next time..." she began, pausing briefly as she always did in the moment leading up to their closing phrase. Then, gathering up all the energy she could, she attempted to strike their signature pose, though she ended up looking a little wobbly in the process. "S-staaaay fresh!"

Marie - Female, 17 - Location: Inkopolis News Studio - Tagged: Callie
"Staaay fresh!" In unison with Callie, Marie uttered their catchphrase and struck the accompanying pose, remaining in this position until the cameras had stopped rolling. "Phew..." Instantly, she turned her attention to Callie. "Well, we made it. How are you holding up over there...?" she asked, sounding rather concerned.

As soon as the cameras had stopped rolling, Callie stopped holding the pose, almost wanting to just flop over right where she stood. "Urgh... I thought that would never end," she sighed, turning to look at her cousin. "But... We got through it," she added, smiling weakly. "... The stress totally didn't help things, though..."
