Kyle - Male, 16 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Marie, etc.
As things seemed rather peaceful at this moment, Kyle decided to ink some of the surrounding area until his Special was fully charged. After doing this, he simply readied his Charger and kept on the lookout for rival Inklings, allowing himself to relax just a little. "So, uh..." he began casually, glancing over at Marie. "Those bombs you used back there... They were pretty cool," he remarked, making light conversation.

Marie - Female, 17 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Kyle, etc.
"Huh?" Marie glanced briefly at Kyle when she heard his comment. "Oh, right... My Splat Bombs. So you noticed, eh?" she remarked, sounding rather laid-back. "Thanks. They're... basically plain old Splat Bombs, but they do look pretty sweet. Eheh..." She noticeably paused for a very brief moment before speaking the word "basically"...

Kyle - Male, 16 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Marie, etc.
"Hm..." Kyle sort of murmured, thoughtfully looking over Marie's Charger. "... Wait a sec; basically?" the Inkling boy added after a moment, sounding curious. "Are they custom or something, kinda like the Charger?" he proceeded to ask, quickly looking a little guilty about throwing so many questions out there at once. "... Ehm... Sorry if I'm being nosy."

Marie - Female, 17 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Kyle, etc.
"Oh, u-uh... Y'know, like... It's just... It's nothing." Marie's tone suddenly sounded a little tense for some reason. "... Well, you saw 'em back there. They didn't act any differently than your average Splat Bombs, did they?" she suddenly questioned Kyle, sounding quite a lot like she was trying to dismiss the subject. She determinedly continued focusing on scanning her surroundings for approaching enemies.

Kyle - Male, 16 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Marie, etc.
"Well, uh... Yeah... I guess they didn't," Kyle noted somewhat awkwardly, thinking back to when Marie used a few of her unique-looking Splat Bombs. Though he wondered what could have been making his ally seem tense, he didn't want to pressure her with any more questions. "Again, sorry... Didn't mean to make you uncomfortable or anything," he apologized, also continuing to focus on watching their surroundings.

Marie - Female, 17 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Kyle, etc.
Hearing Kyle's tone, Marie's expression softened. "... Eh, it's fine," she reassured him, giving a small shrug, but not distracted one bit from what she was doing. "You were just curious. I totally understand. I, uh... maybe overreacted, myself," she admitted, laughing awkwardly. "... Maybe." Of course, she wouldn't allow herself to entirely admit it.

With the pale blue team getting the tower closer and closer to their goal, the orchid team began to launch an all-out attack. The enemy Tentatek suddenly appeared just ahead, inking plenty of turf to maneuver in, swam forward, and, swerving around to attack from the side, began inking around the tower's base. In doing this, she intended to reveal any tower-guards hiding there. By eliminating any threats on the ground, she hoped to clear the way for a much more threatening player.

Meanwhile, an enemy Tri-Slosher was on the prowl behind the tower. She approached quickly, entirely drenching the turf before her in ink along the way.

The pale blue Tentatek spotted this Tri-Slosher and, still determined, tried to keep her at bay. She swung around and tried to attack her from behind, but the enemy simply responded by whirling around, swinging out of the way, and simultaneously throwing a Disruptor.
Now disrupted, the pale blue Tentatek couldn't get away, so she tried to fight back. However, the orchid Tri-Slosher continued circling around her, periodically throwing more Disruptors to keep the effect going. Eventually, it became too much; Tentatek had completely exhausted her ink supply.

Tri-Slosher noticed this and finally went in for the splat, now that her target had no way to fight back. After doing so, she quickly made her way towards the tower, with a secret weapon up her sleeve.

After reappearing at the pale blue spawn, the Tentatek user frantically signaled her allies. "GUYS!" she screamed, "There's a Tri-Slosher coming behind you! I tried to stop her, but she got through! She's a menace!!" Wasting no time, she began trying to swim back to the battle as quickly as she could.

The pale blue Range Blaster user, receiving the signal from Tentatek, frantically jumped in to assist her allies, chucking a Splash Wall in the area between Tri-Slosher and the tower. Though she knew the tower would simply make its way past the Splash Wall in no time at all, she thought it might help them defensively for at least a moment.

When Kyle got the Tentatek user's signal, he quickly whirled around to see that there was indeed a rival Inkling approaching the tower from behind. Aiming his Charger on the ground ahead, he narrowed his one open eye slightly in determination and, taking a moment to focus, fired a powerful burst of ink, hoping it connected with its target.

The Tri-Slosher was indeed paused by the Splash Wall. She hurled ink at it for several moments before it broke, allowing her to continue through. However, she was soon splatted by Kyle's well-aimed shot.

Meanwhile, the enemy Tentatek slowly slunk past the tower and suddenly popped up behind the pale blue Range Blaster, commencing a sneak attack.

Marie, hearing the commotion behind her, briefly looked back  to see what was going on. However, in doing so, she had let her guard down for a moment.

All of a sudden, the enemy Luna Blaster, who had been eyeing the situation all along, advanced. Popping up just in front of the tower, he fired a powerful shot in the general direction of its riders.

Marie was caught off-guard when she found herself being struck by a powerful blast of ink. "Ngh...!" Dropping a Splat Bomb as she left, she scrambled off of the tower. In the chaos, her sunglasses fell off of her face, though she was too occupied to notice. Although she just made it in time not to be splatted, she was in very bad shape. The slightest attack could finish her on the spot. Her eyes clenched shut, she desperately hid in a tiny puddle of pale blue ink, hoping she could somehow make it out of this bleak situation without being splatted.

As the Ranger Blaster was so focused on the chaotic scene in front of her, she was completely unaware of the enemy Tentatek commencing a sneak attack behind her.

Kyle - Male, 16 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Marie, etc.
Like Marie, Kyle found himself being caught off-guard by the sudden, powerful strike from the Luna Blaster, and in a frantic fashion, he dove off of the tower. Having very nearly been splatted, he knew he would have to act quickly but cautiously if he were to avoid such a fate. Having caught the slightest glimpse of Marie just before she had slipped into a tiny ink puddle, he realized that the both of them were in danger right now.
All of a sudden, an idea sprang into Kyle's mind; he still had his fully charged Special in reserve, and now seemed like an ideal time to use it. Taking a deep breath, he entered what appeared to be a larger version of his squid form- the Kraken- and began to swim towards the Luna Blaster, leaving a pale blue trail of ink as he went.

After the enemy Tentatek had eliminated the Range Blaster, her pale blue rival reappeared on the scene.

The pale blue Tentatek came just in time to see what her orchid counterpart did. "You...!" she growled, quickly swimming in to face her.

The two Tentateks then proceeded to have a dramatic showdown, moving a little distance away from the tower as they weaved around one another's attacks for an impressive period of time.

All of a sudden, Marie heard a distinctive "shing" sound. With a gasp, she frantically swam up the tower, transformed back out of squid form, and peeked over the edge, seeing exactly what she thought was happening.

The Luna Blaster panicked a little when he heard the sound of the Kraken transformation, beginning to swim away when he saw it with his own eyes.

Seeing this, Marie showed her fangs in a wily smirk, her head tilted slightly downward so that the brim of her hat covered the top half of her face even more. "Uhuh... No," she said simply. "You just got here. Stay a while, would ya?" At this, she briefly looked up, just long enough to aim, and chucked a Splat Bomb over his head so that it landed in his path.

The Luna Blaster's eyes widened when he saw the strange-looking Splat Bomb land in front of him. Instinctively, he turned back and fled, but looked forward to, once again, see the Kraken coming. He was trapped.

As he rapidly approached the Luna Blaster user in Kraken form, Kyle noticed Marie reappear on the tower from the corner of his eye, relieved to see that she was safe. For just a moment, while she was looking up to aim, he saw that her sunglasses were missing. Wait, what? She looks an awful lot like Mari-... he noted to himself in surprise, his thoughts quickly being cut off when the brim of her hat once again obscured her face. Never mind; gotta focus!
Seeing that the Luna Blaster had been trapped between himself and Marie's Splat Bomb, Kyle continued making his way toward the opposing Inkling until he thought he was close enough, then lunged forward with a spin.

Of course, the Luna Blaster, unable to fire quickly enough to keep any Kraken away, was swiftly splatted.

Meanwhile, behind the tower, the pale blue Tentatek, who was still locked in combat with her orchid counterpart, suddenly swam to the top of a ledge, pulling out an Inkzooka. "Ha! Gotcha!" she cried in triumph as she swiftly took down her enemy. Then, not wanting the rest of her Inkzooka time to go to waste, she swam after the tower and began randomly firing in its direction, repelling any would-be attackers.

Marie - Female, 17 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Kyle, etc.
"BOOYAH!" Marie gave a cry of triumph. "Okay, if you thought you owed me after what I did earlier, you're so good now," she laughed, then motioned for Kyle to join her on the tower again. "C'mon; victory's in our sights!"

The orchid Splash-o-matic, who was rapidly approaching the tower from behind, froze when he saw the pale blue Tentatek's Inkzooka. "Ohhhhh snap," he spoke through gritted teeth, turning around to make his escape. Surely enough, however, one of the Inkzooka's bursts came straight towards him, and he was splatted.

"Aw yeah! I'll be right up!" Kyle triumphantly called back, returning to his regular squid form at that moment. Turning to the tower, he swam through the inky ground leading to it, made his way up the side, and popped out on top, entering his humanoid form. With a wide grin, he glanced at Marie, then looked out at their goal.

Marie returned Kyle's glance, giving a little smile of her own. Then, she decided to extend her invitation to ride the tower to victory to the entire team. "Come on, everybody!" she signaled them. "Come enjoy the ride with us! We're practically there!"
Just after signaling the rest of the team, Marie turned to give Kyle a little fist-bump. However, as she did so, she lifted her head just enough so that her face was clearly visible, and not obscured by the brim of her hat at all. Somehow, she still hadn't noticed that her sunglasses were missing.

Receiving Marie's signal, the Range Blaster began swimming in the direction of the tower as quickly as she could, hoping to reach the celebration before it was already over.

Just as Kyle was preparing to return the fist bump, he suddenly paused. Clearly seeing his ally's face for the first time, his mouth sort of gaped open in shock when he realized who this mysterious Inkling had been all along. "Marie...?!" he gasped quietly, somewhat in disbelief. ... Urk; I've gotta stop staring! I must look totally rude...! he scolded himself, suddenly feeling a little pressured. His grin returning, albeit more sheepishly than before, he awkwardly went ahead with the fist bump.

It was at this moment that Marie finally realized her sunglasses had fallen off. A shocked expression appeared on her face as she, too, paused, frozen while making direct eye contact. This shocked look was soon replaced by one of overwhelming awkwardness. "U-u-uh... H-hi there...?!" she greeted with an extremely nervous chuckle and grin, also continuing the fist bump. This whole situation was so overwhelmingly embarrassing, she even began to blush. After a moment, she quickly tilted her head down to hide her face again, even though it was, at least in Kyle's case, obviously too late. Well, this is just great, she thought to herself, her eyelid twitching slightly. "... D-don't tell the others, alright?" she told Kyle, trying to focus on looking out for last-second trouble as they neared the goal.

At this moment, the pale blue Tentatek landed on the tower after a super-jump. "Aw yeeeaaahhh!!" she cheered, pumping her fists in the air. Just happening to glance down at her feet, however, she spotted something odd. "... Hey!" She bent down and picked up what she had found. "Whose shades? They almost got squished!"

"U-uh, yeah... Sure thing," Kyle sort of stammered in response with a small nod, looking away in his awkwardness and trying to scan for opposing Inklings. He whirled back around, however, when Tentatek suddenly landed on the tower, catching him slightly off-guard. As she picked something up that had apparently been at her feet, he quickly realized that it must have been the missing part of Marie's disguise. "Oh, those...! I think they, uh, belong to... M," he explained somewhat quickly, glancing around with a slightly nervous expression.

"Ohhhh... M." Tentatek slowly looked over at their somewhat-mysterious ally. "Yo, M!" she chirped, holding the sunglasses out. "Lookin' for these?!"

Marie - Female, 17 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Kyle, etc.
"H-huh?!" Marie very briefly glanced over her shoulder, making a conscious effort not to accidentally reveal her face again at the same time. "Oh, uh, yeah, thanks," she began in hasty reply, turning back to what she was doing, "but can you wait 'till after we're done here?"

"Oh... Okay," Tentatek responded, sounding a little confused at M's particularly-stressed tone. It wasn't like the tower was under very heavy attack, and they were basically at the goal, anyway.

Orchid Luna Blaster was on his way to the tower in a last-ditch attempt to take it back, but he found himself being quickly picked off from afar by Marie. Despite being flustered, her aim was still dangerously sharp.

That was it; the tower ended up finally reaching the goal.

Just as the tower was reaching its goal, Range Blaster came frantically swimming over to join the rest of her team. "Great job, guys...!!" she cheered, sounding slightly out-of-breath. Having been caught up in a battle with the orchid Splash-o-matic, who somehow managed to catch up with her along the way, she had arrived a little late, but she still made it nonetheless.

Kyle - Male, 16 - Location: Blackbelly Skatepark (Tower Control) - Tagged: Marie, etc.
Kyle's eyes lit up when the tower arrived at its goal, and he offered a high-five to each of his teammates, attempting to push away some of his awkwardness for the sake of their celebration. "Booyah! We did it!" he cheered.

Marie carefully returned Kyle's high-five, not putting excessive enthusiasm into it, but still in honest celebration. "Great job, guys! That ended pretty quickly," she remarked, thinking back on the battle. Then, she held out her hand in Tentatek's direction, ready to accept her lost sunglasses.

"That rocked!" Tentatek cheered, high-fiving Kyle, then gladly slapped the sunglasses into Marie's hand, grinning. "Here. You probably don't wanna put 'em on right away, though; you should wait for the ink to go away."

"Ahah... Thanks." Marie politely took her sunglasses, looking down at them. "Sheesh... They're totally soaked," she commented, shaking them off a little. "Meh; they'll be good soon enough... Anyway, I'd love to stick around for another match, but I gotta go," she told the others, adjusting her hat to ensure it was still obscuring her face. All of a sudden, she chose to bid farewell in a particular way. "... Stay fresh!" She deliberately uttered the Squid Sisters' signature phrase in parting, a subtly-knowing grin on her face, before slipping down onto the ground and strolling out of the arena to get her bag. Even though the sound of her voice paired with this phrase could possibly give her away a little, there was a good chance it couldn't. After all, it was so widely-known, many Inklings probably quoted it themselves in conversation. Besides, she was leaving now, and didn't have a battle to worry about and focus on anymore.

"Awww! But you just got here..." Range Blaster whined, rather disappointed to see Marie leaving so soon. She then shrugged, however, and gave a nod of understanding. Then, hearing her ally's parting words, she couldn't help giggling, impressed with how "similar" she sounded to one of the famous Squid Sisters. "Bye...!" she called. "You were amazing out there!"

When Marie used the signature phrase of her and her cousin, Kyle felt a bit of a grin spread across his face, still practically unable to believe that he was in the presence of such a legend. "Yeah...! ... Seriously; you're really good," he chimed in after Range Blaster, attempting to keep his tone as casual as he could.
After briefly going silent, Kyle then turned to his other teammates. "I think I'm gonna go, too," he announced. "Bye, guys; I had an awesome time. ... Good luck with your next battle!" with a wave, he made his way off of the tower, sort of quickening his pace in hopes of catching up to Marie.

"Awwwwwww...! Byeeeeee, M!!" Tentatek called after their ally, also giggling after hearing what she just said. "M" sounded so much like Marie, she almost felt like she just came face-to-face with the Squid Sister herself. However, just after this, Kyle, too, revealed that he would be going. "Awww, not you, too, Kyle!" she cried in disappointment. "Oh well. See ya! We'll keep it up for you!!" she called after him as he began to leave.

As she left the skatepark, Marie changed back to her usual, bright green. After picking up her bag and slinging it over her shoulder, she happened to turn around to see Kyle approaching. "Oh...! Heya, Kyle," she greeted, looking a little more relaxed than before, since things were quieter out here. "That was fun. Really," she commented with a laid-back smile. "Even if things had to get... awkward for a sec."

Kyle - Male, 16 - Location: Just outside of Blackbelly Skatepark - Tagged: Marie
"Marie...! Hey!" Kyle greeted back when he reached the Squid Sister, taking care not to say the name "Marie" too loudly in case it drew attention to them. "Yeah... It was," he agreed, also smiling as he gradually began to feel a little more at ease. "... Eheh... Sorry about all that. Hope I didn't make too much of a fuss or anything..."

Marie - Female, 17 - Location: Just outside of Blackbelly Skatepark - Tagged: Kyle
Marie calmly shook her head. "Nah; it's cool," she responded. "I've seen people make waaay more of a fuss than you did," she added reassuringly. "Besides, nobody else seemed to realize it was me... Somehow. Heh..." It did seem particularly odd to her that nobody else caught on to her identity. Inklings heard her voice every day on television, so it alone had to be pretty easy to recognize. "... Anyway," she began again on a different topic, "you were a great ally out there. Thanks a bunch."

Kyle - Male, 16 - Location: Just outside of Blackbelly Skatepark - Tagged: Marie
"Heh... Really?" Kyle responded, feeling rather honored to be getting a compliment from Marie, who he had always imagined to be one of the most legendary Ink Battlers around. "Well, uh... No problem; glad I didn't disappoint," he chuckled a bit, sort of dipping his head gratefully. "So were you, of course! Heheh. You totally saved me more than once... Thanks for that, Marie."
